In this postmodern world that we live in, technology has become a factor of great influence on everything that we do on the daily. I find it interesting how when technology got involved with art, we started to figuring out different ways and styles in which this could be applied to art. Just like this we’ve encountered some miscellaneous mistakes that just come along with this matter, usually these are referred to as glitches. Something that really stood out for me is the description of what really matters when evaluating the elements that are been displayed in front of our eyes. Also, I’m intrigued by this idea of technological glitches to be considered as somewhat of a pro thing rather than a con when encountered with these mediums.
“I don’t care about what image/objects essentially are or represent. I’m fascinated about what we/they do and what happens along the way, about the interactions amongst image/objects and image/situations.” This short section also stood out to me because it refers to how when art is portrayed, it doesn’t necessarily create a focus on neither the image actions, gestures, nor reactions that are been showed in the image itself. There are many other factors that play a role of importance along with this. We gotta see the image as a whole, including whats inside and outside of the portrait.
This reading kind of reminded me of a mixture of McLuhan’s “The Medium is The Message” and “Media Hot & Cold” in a way because of this idea of how the medium is a factor of great importance when presenting an artwork and the way in which the technical riders that are been used actually provide an impact and create a sense of engagement to quality that’s also presented to us.
