This scholarly article written by Sven Ismer helps present the idea of mega-events particularly the World Cup, to be an antipode to worldwide collective emotions, that define a national frame. Nation identities is present and people boost or boast their pride through the tournament.

This case study examined by Sullivan, wanted to see the difference in German national pride before hosting the 2006 World Cup and after hosting it. He fount out the it lead the country into positive relation with the country and people started to become more prideful of their country. It unified a once shamed country that were confused as to whether they should celebrate Germany or not, because of their cruel past.

Meaning that they wanted to get attention and throughout the world cup they were going to do it, Pan Africanism is a topic touched widely throughout the article.

This website demonstrated the emotions and differences within the Brazilian nation of hosting a World Cup. It showed that not everyone was completely satisfied and excited about hosting the world cup, there was people who actually thought the money was being wasted on the World Cup, rather than using it for benefiting the country well being.

This article was more broad on the topic of whether hosting a world cup would be a nationalist move or a disillusion for the country. This also touched on the topic of Brazil, but it was more general and lead to the presentation of the involvement of host’s citizens in World Cups and it’s importance.
