Together my group and I decided to use the topic cheating because it is a common issue that goes on in schools, that is starting to change since there are serious consequences behind this action.
We chose a variety of different articles that talk about cheating in school,s even as big as the Ivy League school Harvard University for example, and the consequences behind it. We wanted to also show that teachers are a part of cheating as well.
All of the articles we have chosen besides the ones that I already mentioned, best express the issues during our first semester at Baruch.First off because it is our first year and we will encounter many things while being here and also because it is an important issue and some people might be tempted to cheat or might not know what exactly cheating and plagiarism is, so these things are very important to be aware of.

My group and I chose to expand on the topic of cheating because it occurs in every part of society. This blog identifies where and how these cheatings happen. The article about students cheating in Harvard stresses the most about our topic because cheating does happen in prestigious institutions as well. I was allegedly accused of cheating ON the first week of school when I came into Baruch because of a Free and for Sale page on Facebook, which they said that the group had cheating issues going on there. (Actions against me are dropped) This emphasizes how cheating is frowned upon in our society.

My group chose to talk about cheating in schools. In our fro class cheating is a largely talked about topic and to us this meant this was an issue that must be important. OUr articles show different kinds of cheating thru the use of technology and how this is becoming a growing problem. The also show how cheating has become easier through technology even in schools like Harvard. Cheating even occurred from teachers and that to me shows how huge of a problem this is becoming and why this is relevant to discuss in class. Since Baruch has been stressing this so much I felt it was a good topic for us to use.
The project of New York Times was very informative. I got to learn about things and people I never knew about. The project itself went fairly smoothly. As site leader, I had to make the site and upload the content. Getting to be the creative one who decorated the site was quite entertaining. Everyone in my group worked together well in an innovative manner. Our project was themed Media. Therefore, it was very easy to find. Media has done a lot in progress and regress of this society. My opinion on media has been more stabilized due to the evidence brought up from out Times articles. My group was also the first ones done. I feel like the rocket was fairly easy and very quick. Our project showed how Media determines the “norm” in the society along what is acceptable socially. The horizons are broader by using technology and media. Media has a huge stamp on getting your word out. Used positively like Facebook or negatively like Gawkers Media. We all learned a lot and had a successful time with our project.

Our groups theme was media. And what better way to correlate media and Baruch then talking about Baruch’s social/media outlets. Social media in college is not only important, its one of the main things that keep us connected. That is why the group selected this for the theme. social media is the most noticeable and important at Baruch. Its what builds bridges between roads to new friendships, job opportunities, or just extra curricular activities. My group and i had a very salient theme.
My group and I decided to go with the theme of beginnings because as a freshman at Baruch, many can relate to how starting or dealing with something new can be. We decided to do a wide variety of new beginnings, from dealing with a government shutdown and what a momentary lack of government funding would be like, having a new start at raising your great grandchild, the difference in money in certain school districts and more. We realized that anyone and almost anything can be a new beginning, and that was the best choice for us. I personally liked the project it made my group think hard on what a new beginning is and how we in the Baruch community can relate.
