My experience at Baruch has been majority disappointing. I dislike my experience because of he system itself and how none of the departments communicate. The school is beyond frustrating. If it wasn’t for the friends I’ve made, I would’ve dropped out to save me another day with the frustration. The school is very clique-y and none of the departments care to fix the problems they have. Example, the English department keeps crappy teachers due to ten-year. Students are suffering because the teacher is so old that he cannot remember what he requested. Another example is kids who don’t test well. The departments don’t talk to each other so it’s like playing Tetris to find your classes. You get what you pay for; and so far from my experience I paid little so I got no help or concern. I enjoy my math professor but I dislike the department. SAAC has given me a lot of problems. After a while, you get tired of dealing with it. The school is tiring. Also, the academics have been fairly easy. I’ve been given very little work to do outside of class. This fact makes me question if I’m learning enough or just testing well. I feel the school has disappointed me.

    Part 2:
I enjoyed the enrichment workshop. I, like many other students, felt the workshop would be a waste of time and energy. However, I was pleasantly surprised on what I was listening to. Thomas was very inspiring and passionate. He spoke a lot about your digital footprint and how that can affect your future. I agree with a lot of what he says. Not only does your social media but your activities online can show a bit about you. For example; if I post a picture of me at a concert- that can show what music I like. Also, having a digital identity defers to whom your audience is. It really depends which shows how careful you should be online. I feel like I learned a lot and was willing to learn because a passionate teacher was at the helm.

During my first three months at Baruch I have felt that I am more out of my comfort zone than ever. I am still trying to get accustomed to everything and people around me, but it makes me miss high school and my friends even more. I know that being at Baruch will probably help me to stay more focused, but I noticed that I was much more confident when I did work in high school rather than in college. In college I never know what to expect from a teacher. I used to love writing and math, but I don’t anymore. Most of the time I am unhappy mainly because I feel like I am not living up to my potential and I am just bored. So I am going to just try and work harder and also join a club to see where that goes.

    Part 2
I liked the enrichment workshop because first off the professor seemed very interested in what he was teaching, which made me interested in what he was talking to us about. I could really relate to having different digital identities on social networks. For example, on a scale from 1-10 I placed myself as a 4 for 1 being how much I am the same person on the internet and 10 being how I am different. I chose 4 because I am more social on the internet, but I am not that different to where I would do things that I know is not in my character just for some likes (example: Instagram). Also, I feel that the things you do on social websites does reflect who you are, because it can show a lot about the things you’re interested in and what you believe in. The way Thomas inspired me was I guess to be more aware of what is put on social websites, whether I put up something about myself or someone else does, and how others may interpret those thing just to determine my character.

My first three months at Baruch have been fun and exciting. Being in college is a completely new experience for me and so far i have loved it. My classes have not been to hard and I am doing well in the classes. I have met many new people and had new experiences out of my comfort zone and they have all been for the better. With baseball starting soon and next semester moving into the city, I only expect my experience to get better with the new friends I have made and being in a new environment. I have had nothing but positive experiences so far and I hope it continues.

    Part 2
The enrichment workshop was very insightful and helped in many ways. I learned how you are perceived on the internet is very important and a big part of our lives. The professor did a great job teaching us how to control what we put on the internet and create positive outlooks for ourselves. I learned that you have to be careful on social media because for future jobs it can have a huge impact. I also learned about how some people are different in person then on the internet. Some people act differently whether its because there shy or want to be someone they are not. I learned a lot from this workshop and the professor did a great job.

    Adjustment

I feel that the image above expresses my need for adjustment. I feel that I am slowly learning what it takes to be a college student and I understand that I have more learning to do. The image above shows objects that rotate and can be adjusted to better fit and rotate with one another, thus representing that there are various components that will help me adjust to this new stage in my life.

My first three months at Baruch have honestly been life altering. I realize that I am extremely independent, and I use my independence more as a college student. I have to take initiative, I have to know when and what to study. I have to know when to schedrule business, personal and educational times throughout my day. As you may notice I used many I’s in the sentences above because I have not only learned how independent I must be , but that it can be lonely.

Aside from independence and loneliness my first few months has showed me many things I must work on as a person such as how to speak up and more.

My impression of Baruch so far is that everyone is pretty much about their work. Although the determination is a wonderful quality, I was looking forward to seeing people who are hard working as well as fun and how well they juggle the two. Being that this is only my first semester I hope that my impression of Baruch is false and that I continue to adjust to college life.

    Part 2:

    Enrichment Workshop

The workshop that I recently attended brought up things that I often think about, specifically in my social life on social websites. Although I am not much of a social media person, I do have an account on a social website that I use to keep in touch with family and friends. I rarely post statuses that may give insight into my life because anyone can get a hold of the information that I put out the world. Anyone can be a family member, colleges or future places of employment. The image you put out there on social media, in my opinion is your first impression in modern day society. I already knew that much walking into the workshop. What I never took the time to do was see if the person in front of the screen is the same as the identity on the website.

I feel that naturally I act the same in person, on the phone, through text or on social media. The workshop did inspire me to continue to be me, but to do so positively.

Part I – College at Baruch has been one of the best experiences because I’ve seen myself “grow up”. I feel like my life and my future is in my hands now, however the beginning of all of it was almost a blur because there are so many things you need to do on your own. There is no one to tell you what to do and when to do it. This is bittersweet. This picture explains the battle between picking two out of three things you mostly want when your in college. Balancing has been one of my biggest challenges because you are the boss of yourself and its up to you for every aspect of college. I personally think this is something I need to work on, because its all about time management. The first three months have been a breeze yet a challenge because the outcome of this whole college experience is all up to you. Basically, no one to tell you when to do your homework, how much you can hang out with your friends or study to maintain your grades. I think a big part of this has to do with time management and balancing everything out. Other than that, I couldn’t have picked a better school for me and I’m looking forward to the next three years.

Part II – The Enrichment Workshop was very interesting and it was great to see how much the Internet can help you. There are so many people that never realize your “profile” on the Internet can affect you so much. Just because your behind a screen doesn’t mean you shouldn’t resemble the person you are in real life. I believe my Internet and personal profile mirror who I am. Many do not realize that whatever you have broadcasted on the Internet about yourself will be there forever and is a big part of who you are. The Internet is a very useful thing and it should resemble who you are as a person. You never know who may be judging you through the Internet screen, whether it is personal or work related but who you are should be equivalent to both.

    Part I

So far, my experience here at Baruch is awesome, except for the “getting up and going to school” part. It’s a huge shift for me because it changes everything including the way I work. It wasn’t a smooth transition, but my time management is something that I really need to focus on because I’m always in work, school, or sleeping. It is a challenge because I am taking care of myself. At least, I am gradually morphing myself to fit the college life.

    Part II

It’s a very interesting workshop, showing a new perspective of the online digital identity.
I learned that my own digital identity does not really represent me in real life. It can’t stand on its own because I don’t really use it much. My online identity consists of many things that doesn’t really represent me. It shows me as a socially “boring” guy. While in person, I’m not “boring.”

    Part 1

These first three months at baruch have been amazing so far, I feel as if this school was made for me. I love how the school of Baruch caters towards business because business is the only reason why I decided to go to college. My professors are top tier professors and in the classroom they challenge me intellectually. The professors are great because not only am I allowed to speak to them in class but they encourage me to talk to them outside of class. Going into Baruch I came in with five close friends now I am happy to say that I have made 15 new friends that I have bonded with throughout the semester. For finance majors like myself they offer some great workshops such as the Bloomberg workshop and as well have around 50 computers with the Bloomberg software which is a invaluable tool to understanding the markets. Another great advantage of being in Baruch is that we are in the greatest city in the world especially for an 18 year old. In New York there is amazing food, beautiful girls, night clubs, business capital of the world, fascinating museums and many more fun things to do.

    Part 2

For most the enrichment workshop was very insightful and warned about the dangers of social media. Honestly though for me I already know everything that he was trying to teach us. I have great parents and at a young age my father warned me about the dangers of social media and pictures and how it could lead to the ruining of jobs and careers. He showed me the example of Anthony Weiner tacking a picture of his crotch and posting it on social media thereby ruining his career in politics. I do however believe that baruch did a good thing in giving that enrichment workshop because I believe that the masses don’t really understand the dangers of social media
