Professor (name),
I am afraid I have missed the midterm exam. Although it was in my full intention to go that day, I became incapable to take the test due to a very sudden and extreme illness. I have been stuck to my bed for the past few days and really did not do anything except for continually study for my midterm exams and visit the doctor. I did not email you because I was afraid I would spread my sick germs onto a keyboard that anyone else from my family would use. I will present to you a doctor’s note the moment I come back. Please excuse my absence and please allow me to have some form of a retake for the midterm exam.
Sincerely,
Tasdique Chowdhury

My groupmate Erica posted first and I emailed her asking what a prospective theme could be for the rest of us. She informed me that her article was fashion/business related and we both agreed on having our theme be business. I told the rest of the group, and it caught on. I think this is because our school is a business school and it would be relatively easy for us to find articles that are related to the vague theme of business. For the bearcat section of the Frontpage, I asked Tosin or Dexter to write about their trip for NABA, which directly had to do with our business theme. Everyone found articles relating to business easily, as did I. I thought instantly to basketball business, which I follow often; RealGM is a website I visit everyday at least once, and it talks about the business side of basketball as well. It was easy for me to think of the Lakers’ salary cap as an instant topic, and I quickly searched for something relating to the Lakers budget.

Sharing my project with my Freshman Seminar group was easy because my Lakers article has always been a familiar topic for me. It is something I am comfortable with and so I decided to use it for the sake of a smooth presentation, although it did not go as smoothly as I might have wanted; there were time barriers we had to be aware of. Watching my peers present their projects was easing for me because the other groups generally put in just as much work as my group. That being said, my fear of having a really poor presentation was eradicated by watching others do just as well as us.
