Blog post: Rubin Museum

The mini “trip” to the Rubin Museum was actually pretty interesting. Although it was pretty far from Baruch and we did have to walk home in the rain, the overall trip was a pleasant experience. The artifacts and exhibits were very interesting. The actual museum itself was pretty simple and provided a really quiet atmosphere. I guess it’s interesting in a way because it would let the art speak for itself. The statues that were on display were amazingly beautiful. Luckily we had an awesome tour guide because history is not my forte and without some explanation, I would have no idea what it was. They were simple little figurines but the overall statue had to be analyzed and that’s how you would know why the person is sitting the way they are.

My favorite part of the whole tour was when we were able to see where Tibet monks would pray. It was a very quiet atmosphere but the religious ambiance made it very relaxing. The details of the place to pray was very precise. From the flooring, to the walls, and the all the other objects in the room. What I found surprising was that I did smell a hint of incense that was being burned and it added more effect to the overall atmosphere. It was a pleasant experience and i would definitely go again.
