Subject: Missed Midterm Examination

Dear Professor Y,
Sorry for the disturbance but I was unable to be present during last week’s midterm examination. I came down with a stomach virus and encountered chronic headaches. I was unable to attend any classes last week. I was wondering if there was any possible way I could make up this midterm examination by taking it another day or doing make up assignments.
Thank you for you time,
Johnathan Wu

Our theme regarding the New York Times “Front Page” Project was revolved around Apple technology. We covered multiple topics from the new iPhone 5S, and how it dealt in sales against the Samsung S4, to the new Baruch iOS phone application. Technology greatly affects the Baruch community because of it’s continuing to grow and expand. Everyone uses technology instinctively and relies heavily on it.

When our group went up to present, I felt a little nervous because I wasn’t used to speaking in front of crowds. Our group wasn’t as prepared as we could have been but I felt that we did rather well. I felt that sharing our blog post in front of peers was a great assignment which helped in public speaking as well as presenting to another audience. I learned that everyone still requires a bit of work in public speaking and, though this exercise greatly helped, we could use a bit more practice.
