Axel’s Follow Up^

Last Tuesday our class had the opportunity to present as groups our beloved blog posts. Before actually going up in front of the room and presenting, the group had to post these blogs up. This was a struggle because we did not know much about what to post where; but being that my group was clutch, like making a game winning shot at the final minute, we were ready. My experience presenting was a funny but pleasant one in that I was nervous and mentioned some silly things but I enjoyed it. Because we were the last group to present, I learned after I was finished from the other groups that I spoke a little much. I wish to fix this ranting in the future. As my peers presented I noticed that many people limited their oral presentation as much as possible, and others, like me, excessively spoke. The spectators grow bored from this. During the presentations of the other groups, I tried to mentally take note of what I should and should not do. I grew more and more nervous thinking about this. In the end, I learned that Aquafina has salt in it and that our class really thought the Club Fair was going to be interesting. This project came out successful in my perspective, thank you “Cass” and “Lo”.

Axel on “Authorities Worry 3-D Printers May Undermine Europe’s Gun Laws” Third Blog Post.

Authorities Worry 3-D Printers May Undermine Europe’s Gun Laws by GEORGI KANTCHEV

Okay I don’t even know where to start with this one. First, I’ll begin with the 3-D printers. I didn’t even know they existed really. Call it ignorance or just not believing. I have seen something like on CSI: NY when they try detecting the shape of a murder weapon or something related to that but never would I have imagined that the public could have such technology so easily. Second, now that some loon posted a recipe for disaster online, people have directions on how to print guns out in the three dimensional form. This means that anyone can make a lethal gun with just a 3-D printer. This is not just France and the United States but rather all over the world technology. My third and final point ends off in as a positive one. Although, like illegal downloading of music online, making this gun printer illegal won’t stop much of this action, someone who posted on RepRap forum, which is one of the biggest 3-D-printing online communities, said that it isn’t all that effective. He compares it to “building a car out of cheese, it won’t work”. That seems to calm things down, only if someone more reliable were to agree. Good luck Europe, good luck Earth.

Blog #2- “Is Anyone There?” by Axel

“Is anyone there?” by Henry Alford
This article touches upon something we all go through, feeling like we’re being ignored. Alford does a spectacular job collecting examples people who have gone through unreplied emails. Because of this, we bare the increasing doubt if the email sent through. This goes on when people send text messages too but we never want to sound desperate asking the receiver if he actually did receive the text. “What if he does not want to talk to me?” or “Am I bothering her?” goes through our minds. This all seems to look as if everyone replied to all their emails and messages, the problem of feeling neglected in the viral world would come to an end. If we assume this to be correct, those who don’t respond are blame but who can blame them if they receive 2oo+ emails daily. There is not enough time in the world to reply to each one. I guess we just have to suck it up and stop whining. 🙂

Axel Hernandez talks “HTC Reports Its First Loss, but Samsung Shows Vigor”.

Since the top dogs, Samsung and Apple, are ruling the phone market, other smaller companies are struggling to survive. HTC has been relevant in the phone business but its efforts to remain so could likely prove to be insufficient. In this article, we read about Samsung striving in the business because their competition in the memory chips has declined. On the contrary, HTC reported their first loss in net pay and usually only one quarterly fall is enough to mean that the company is pretty much over. Mr. Dediu said, ““In the phone space, you hit one bad quarter and you are out.” Are there exceptions? Of course, my phone is an LG phone, LG being one of those exceptions but based on statistics, I do not see HTC continuing. Being that China has several companies rising at a significant pace, HTC will probably fall completely. I am no prophet, this news is not a secret. Several HTC workers have already left. They, too, recognize a sinking ship when they see one.

First thing’s first, I am a mama’s boy. Love her to the utmost but don’t get me wrong, I’m good with my entire family. I feel like i’m a sucker for love; girl’s are evil and Cupid sucks but whatever; that’s life. I’m a Christian, a Jesus lover and I’m unashamed like Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes..”. Also, there is a 116 clique that I absolutely enjoy greatly. They are a group of fascinating rappers. Soccer is my absolute favorite sport. Even though I do like just about all the others, soccer takes first place. These two with me are Pj, and Tito, my peeps. My folks are Mexican, it’s really cool. Math is best, so statistics is the bestest!
Music is life, I don’t know how else to put it really. I enjoy it, listening to it, making it, mixing it, dancing to it, spitting bars to it. (I’m a rapper). This picture is from rock band but it’s funny how the instruments are what I can play. Drums compared to the other three is my forte, then the guitar, bass, then singing. The mic is really represented by my raps but I do enjoy singing. Miley Cyrus, need I say more? I just like to be funny; hope it works. Finally, Baruch College is a new but significant chapter in my life and so these ten things sum up my life. Thanks.
