Elaine Liang: New York Times “Front Page” Project BLOG Post #2

We had to present our New York Times “Front Page” in our FRO class last Tuesday. And I must say it was a little nerve racking. Even though we know these people, I felt that it was still scary to present in front of the class. In the back of my head I was worried if I was speaking clearly and whether what I was presenting was interesting. I learned that I have the tendency to speak quickly and preferably go first so that I can get the presentation over with. I might dread being call on but after presenting it is a relief because I got it over with.

Watching the other groups made me realize that everyone are also nervous when presenting. There are those who can naturally speak in front of an audience without a problem and make it look easy. However, there are also others who struggle and are nervous as well. From them I learned that we are all similar in the way we present things as well as differences.

Article: Wall Street Uneasy in Face of Government Shutdown

The government need to step up their game and figure out what they are going to do. This is not the first government shut down but it causes people to worry about the future. According to NY Times, “House Republicans passed legislation over the weekend that would keep the government operating only if funding for President Obama’s health care bill is delayed for a year and a tax on medical devices is permanently repealed. The Democrats who control the Senate have said they will not agree to those conditions.” Because of the disagreement government decided to shut down. Even though the shutdown would be relatively insignificant, “many strategists say that the outcome of the debate over the shutdown is important because it will set the backdrop for the battle over the debt ceiling.” This disagreement would just mean they are not making progress on the debt ceiling.

Elaine Liang’s Blog Post#1

Herherher I am finally in college. Bittersweet feelings about this transition though. Not afraid to represent Baruch with its’ sweater, wearing it proudly. Anyways, I am Asian/ Cantonese, clearly. But apparently I change into a different Asian in the summer because of how easily I get tan, according to my friends I turn a Pilipino. I am big on family and friendship. I learned how to value these things through the New Life Now Church Group. These people there are my family and I love them to death. I LOVE playing volleyball and with the New Life Now Warriors I get to continue playing this sport. I was never a big handball fan when I was younger. However, my friend forced me to play during Sophomore year of High School and now I can play! Scrub status forever. Working out is something I like to do when I am stressed or just plain bored.  BAM! Look at those guns. During my free time I would like to read, bookworm for life. I mainly read novels containing romance and comedy because those are the only things that I won’t fall asleep on. Other genres bore me really easily. And in the last photo as you can see, I am a kid at heart. There is nothing wrong with going into Toys R Us and squeezing into those mini cars that I never got as a child, this is call having fun.
