2nd Post

My group choose violence as our topic. this topic was rather relevant since society is always faced with acts of violence like from the articles that we chose. The main reason of these acts are peoples inability to solve issues in which both parties will be sufficed with results. Therefore violence is enacted and to reduces this type of solution to conflicts people need to just chill and learn to forgive and forget things 😛

NY Times Project

My group, Just Do It, chose sports as our newspaper’s theme. We felt that sports was an important topic to address because everyone is either a sports fan or enjoys playing a sport. Sports teaches us valuable lessons whether it be working together as a team, or individual lessons like pushing yourself to do your best. Sports are also a way of promoting a healthy lifestyle. As busy college students it is often diffucult to stay in shape with the lack of time and the availability of quick yet unhealthy meals. Sports are a fun and enjoyable alternative for someone who dreads going to the gym. It is also important to note that reading about sports news offers fans a new perspective to a sport they love or one they are interested in.

FOOD!

My team decided to present on food mainly due to the fact that there are endless resources to gain knowledge and speak of the matter. Here in New York City, One can literally walk out of their home and have access to a wide variety of foods from all over the globe. Very few places in the world provide such an amazing experience. Being we had to link our presentation to New York Times articles, it created a perfect opportunity to delve into so many articles with confidence knowing all Bearcats can relate. Having limited places to eat on Campus, i personally decided to focus on the facts regarding to what people were consuming. It is fair to say that the majority are aware vaguely on whats healthy and what isn’t. But what are you actually eating?

2nD Blog Post

My group (HIIPower) and I decided to write about violence. Violence is everywhere no matter what country you are from. it is bad for everybody and causes problems for the community. I believe that people have to be busy and dedicated to something. if everybody is busy there would be a decrease in violence and anger. in Baruch there are plenty of things to keep someone from being violent. well first all of the school work takes up plenty of time. also the gym is open to any student and anyone can just release anger at the gym. if you dont want to be alone and want to be social, then join a club. this will keep you in the community and with other people so the risk of letting off bullets or fists will reduce.

NY Times Project

My group, Here Comes Treble, chose to do our blog post about music. When deciding on a topic the first thing we came up with choosing was war, mainly because it is a very evident topic in our news these days. But searching for a brighter topic to follow, we stumbled upon music. As a group, we recognized the worldwide love for music. Regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, etc., the majority of people in the world love music. Our group name was a play on words that we wanted to use to provide somewhat of a fun and more exciting aspect to the project. The word “treble” is recognized in music as the highest note in a harmonious piece of music. We thought it would be a fun thing to call ourselves. It is obvious that music is very entertaining, but to some people it is also a way to express themselves or to relate to feelings that they might have. Music is something that is widely relatable throughout the world because there are so many different styles and people to like or dislike each respective style. No matter what culture or subculture you are in there is bound to be music, probably differing, but music is generally a part of culture. It was much more interesting to find articles about music than to have had to find articles about something like war or government actions. Each member of our group connects differently to music as do the rest of the people in the world. This made finding different articles from one another easy because we each have our own connection to music. Although each article discussed music, they were all different somehow. Having the topic of music made it much, much easier to enjoy our presentation rather than dread it. Individually, we each explored some aspect of music that was not necessarily the same as each of our group members. Even though some of our articles may have seemed to address similar aspects of music in the world, each and everyone was different. I think doing this project helped to recognize the massive scale of the presence of music in our world today. As young people we may follow music, but to see music in the news is something that helps us young people connect to the world around us on a much larger scale.

Food from Lex!

Our group decided to choose the topic food because — I mean, who doesn’t like food? We thought it would be a great topic to blog about because everyday Baruch students after class always have the urge to eat at any place. The city is the perfect example, everywhere we go there are either food carts, deli’s, restaurants, fast-food areas, so on and so forth, that are endlessly surrounding us. Food is a necessity for any human-being; not only us Bearcats. The events that happen in Baruch, one of the main listed proprieties is food. It serves as the basic nutrients that helps our bodies stay strong. In retrospect, food was the decision Team Lex’s choose for their topic because all in all, it is something any person prepares regardless, they are at home, at an event, e.t.c.
