My group, Here Comes Treble, chose to do our blog post about music. When deciding on a topic the first thing we came up with choosing was war, mainly because it is a very evident topic in our news these days. But searching for a brighter topic to follow, we stumbled upon music. As a group, we recognized the worldwide love for music. Regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, etc., the majority of people in the world love music. Our group name was a play on words that we wanted to use to provide somewhat of a fun and more exciting aspect to the project. The word “treble” is recognized in music as the highest note in a harmonious piece of music. We thought it would be a fun thing to call ourselves. It is obvious that music is very entertaining, but to some people it is also a way to express themselves or to relate to feelings that they might have. Music is something that is widely relatable throughout the world because there are so many different styles and people to like or dislike each respective style. No matter what culture or subculture you are in there is bound to be music, probably differing, but music is generally a part of culture. It was much more interesting to find articles about music than to have had to find articles about something like war or government actions. Each member of our group connects differently to music as do the rest of the people in the world. This made finding different articles from one another easy because we each have our own connection to music. Although each article discussed music, they were all different somehow. Having the topic of music made it much, much easier to enjoy our presentation rather than dread it. Individually, we each explored some aspect of music that was not necessarily the same as each of our group members. Even though some of our articles may have seemed to address similar aspects of music in the world, each and everyone was different. I think doing this project helped to recognize the massive scale of the presence of music in our world today. As young people we may follow music, but to see music in the news is something that helps us young people connect to the world around us on a much larger scale.
