My experience at Baruch was exactly what I would have imagined school in the city to be.  What was not expected, however,  was the workload. Sometimes, I didn’t have any work or exams for two weeks while four different things were due on the same day. My circadian rhythm was flipped around. I realized that I needed a way to regulate my time better. After about two months, I learned to juggle my personal life and academics. I tried my hardest to finish my work before it as due. I found out that i had more free time this way. In the near future, I hope to continue to do better and make more time for myself so I can get more sleep.

Hey! Attached is a link to our groups New York Times front page.

Our theme is Achievements in American History. We were debating between several topics and in the end settled for this one. Although America’s history is relatively shorter than other nations, it has come a long way to get where it is now. There were many strifes and changes in history and we thought it would be great to highlight some major American achievements. One of the articles I choose was “Obama Elected as Racial Barrier Falls.” African Americans and other minorities have been trying to fight off racial discrimination for over a decade now. When Obama was elected as the first African American president, this was not only a sign of change, but a sign of hope for minorities. The article talks about how Obama gained most of his votes from minorities such as African Americans and Hispanics. He also promised that he would start willing in jobs as soon as his first week in office. The New York Times Article also states that this is the first time since 1995 (Bill Clinton’s term) where Democrats are in control of the Senate, House, and the White House.

Emailing A Professor

Hello Professor Bennett,

My name is Karen and I am in your Philosophy 1500 class on Fridays. I was reading through our textbook last night and did not understand the text by Kant. I don’t understand the part which Kant says “All bodys are extended.” What does he mean by “extended?” Can you review that in the beginning of class next week? Thank you.

Hi my name is Karen. I have been called nicknames such as Karne or Q-Ball before. Sometimes, I may come off as an awkward person. Above, is a link to a video that I think defines who I am. My parents were both born in China and they came to the U.S. as immigrants. I grew up speaking both forms of Chinese to my parents. As a child, I had a passion for music. I liked playing the piano and remembered dedicating about three hours to practice each day. I also played the violin and flute. Music has made me a patient person because I knew that some things cannot be rushed, especially when practicing. In junior high school, I met a group of people. They taught me the meaning of relationship, trust, and friendship. We were an inseparable group of 7. In high school, we were known as the “Loud Group.” Slowly, these people were more than just my friends. They almost held the same importance as my mom and dad. High school was also a time for changes though. I was confused as to what I wanted to become in life. I loved fashion and architecture. I was conflicted between what I want to do and what I should do. In the end, settled for a business major. Designing houses and clothes became a distant dream to me. I hope that one day after I pass my CPA exam, I will go back to school for what I truly like.
