college meme

I always hear people say, “College is going to be the best four years of your life!” They are wrong! I came into college really excited. I thought all these wonderful things were going to happen; I’ll join a lot of clubs, be on top of all my work, and have a lot of fun. Well that was not the case. I have so much work to do, so many papers to write, and a part time job on top of that. My professors really like making things due on the same day. It is really stressful trying to get everything done. I have no time for myself and don’t get to hang out with friends as much as I did in high school. My schedule basically consists of work, study, and sleep. I spend countless hours at night trying to perfect my papers and last minute studying for tests the next day. I’m so relieved when the weekend comes because I get to sleep in and relax and enjoy myself. I thought high school was supposed to prepare you for college, but it really doesn’t. I didn’t have to write ten page papers and never ever did I study for an exam.

Email a Professor

Hi Professor,

I want to ask if I could perhaps take a make-up midterm. I couldn’t make it the day of the midterm because I was out of school sick with a fever. It would be great if I could have a make-up exam. Please reply as soon as possible.

Thank you!

NY Times Post #2

My group’s theme for the New York Times project was health and fitness. We believe everyone should take their health more seriously. Everyone is so caught up in their lives that they don’t have time to exercise eat healthy, especially since we live in New York City, where so many things are readily available to us.

Students are a main group that should focus more on their health. Many students stay up till early morning cramming for that test or finishing that paper. Students spend many sleepless nights trying to complete their work while only running on caffeine. This is terrible for their health because they are not getting enough rest. Students have so much work that they don’t have time to take care of their health.

The article I chose was about the soda ban in New York City. Mayor Bloomberg wants to limit the size of soft drinks. Since America is the most obese country in the world, we should all take precautions to maintain our health and prevent ourselves from any health complications.

Above is a slideshow I made of what I think best describes who I am. My name is Shirley Lin. Although I was born in China, I came to NYC at a young age, two years old. Therefore, I consider myself an American because I don’t even have memories from my two years in China. I try my best to have a positive outlook on things and live life to the fullest. I mean you only get one shot at it so why not be crazy and go for the things you really want to do. One thing I really enjoy is going on adventures and traveling. I want to see as much of the world as I can and experience everything I possibly can. One place I really want to go to is Australia. I can seem to be really shy at first, but I am one of those people where if I really get to know you, you will see a side of me that you didn’t know  existed.

I really enjoy spending time with friends and family. My family consists of me, my parents, my sister, and my brother.  I also really enjoy eating. I can eat everything and I am not afraid to try something new. I also really enjoy singing when no body is around and I think I  am a pretty good singer as well.
