Sounds of my life

Hey everyone, name’s Alex Starovoitov but just Star for short! Hope everyone is having a good week and all. I’m not one to talk much about myself, usually music speaks for me. But most of the time it is scattered just about everywhere. There isn’t a specific style or genre I listen to, so take from that what you will about me. Most of the time, music really helps bring out my thoughts and talents. For instance, I love cooking so whenever I cook I turn on a specific type of music that helps make the dish better. After all, they say put your heart into what you cook and I guess it helps out a little. Overall I think or hope, Im a nice person and will help anyone who asks or needs someone. As said, Im not one to talk about myself a lot so hopefully the play list does some explanation. No particular order really, either. Have a good one!

1. Animals- Baths

2. All the Small Things – Blink182

3. Solitude- Billie Holiday

4. Bleed It Out- Linkin Park

5. Junker Blues- Hugh Laurie

6. Autumn leaves- Joe Pass

7. In This World- Moby

8. Beautiful- Eminem

9. Riot- Three Days Grace

10. Atlas Hands- Benjamin Francis Leftwich

Low Tech Poetics in the service of the playlist Doe

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Hope Y’all had a blessed week. This is Peter. Waking up at two in the morning thinking “where they do that at doe”? Please forgive my ignorance.  If you’ll give a portion of your attention to my opinionated orifice, hopefully you’ll find the diversification of music listed here a bit interesting. If I could write about anything, it’d be how amazing and loving God is, but we’re supposed to list music, and  I’m sure all of you are witness to that one way or another whether you realize it or not so I’ll leave it at that. My supposed top ten in no specific order, Enjoy:

1. Chris Brown – Fine China

2. Sade ft. Jay Z – The Moon and Sky (Remix)

3. Ella Fitzgerald – Manhattan

4. Robin Thicke ft. Lil Wayne – Pretty Lil’ Heart

5.  Ryan Leslie ft. Jadakiss – How it was supposed to be (Remix)

My Top 10

Music is such a huge part of who I am–so huge that I believe I have a form of auditory-visual synesthesia: an odd neurological condition that I diagnosed myself with after sitting through one of Sapolsky’s psychology classes. I almost always have a song playing in my head and, resultantly, I often end up discreetly tapping my fingers on a surface. I’ve been this way for as long as I can remember being that my father and grandfather are musicians. I followed their footsteps and began playing the piano by ear at eight years old, started singing at around the same age, and I picked up the guitar and ukulele about three years ago. Music is definitely something I have a huge passion for.

This is a playlist of ten of my favorite songs/songs that mean the most to me. I like to think that my taste in music is broad, but I’ve come to realize that I almost always end up gravitating towards alternative rock, a Christian song, any song with lyrics that actually mean something, or a combination of the three. Hopefully you’ll get to know a little bit more about me and what I believe in by taking a listen!

My Top 10

Enjoy,

Amanda Rosso

My Music

Hey everybody,

My name is Nick Festa and honestly i dont know what i would do without music. Music is my scapegoat. Whenever I am feeling down i just push in my buds and boom, just like that im feeling all better. I am a huge fan of house music. I love to dance so whenever i hear a song with a good beat to it i like it. But my favorite artists arrange from Eminem, Drake, Zedd, Kanye West, Linking Park, and Kid Cudi. What are my top ten favorite songs? Pretty tough question but I love songs i can relate to so here are my favorites.

1) Shadow of the Day – Linkin Park

2) Find Your Love- Drake

3) Clarity- Zedd

4) Up All Night- Drake

5) Amazing- Kanye West

6) Beautiful- Eminem

7) Pursuit of Happiness- Kid Cudi

8) Loose Yourself- Eminem

9)  Cannonball- Showtek & Justin Prime

10) Put On- Young Jeezey feat. Kanye West

Thanks for reading! 😀

The Playlist

Just as the charts change, so does my music taste.

The one thing that will never change is my love for electronic music. Although my brohers raised me on gabber and progressive house, I adore happy hardcore and trap, such as “24/7” and “Yaow!” respectively. “Babylon” was thrown in since it reminds me most of my brother’s own style and helps me keep his memory alive.

“Meow” is a subtle nod to my obsession with video games and all things pixelated. Anamanaguchi’s upbeat vibe helps my inner 8-bit princess escape from this castle called reality.

While on the topic of guilty pleasures, no good playlist is complete without a little Gaga or Britney. Though the choice was hard, “Teeth” and “Toy Soldier” came out on top of my list of hidden beauties. There ain’t nothing wrong with getting down with your bad self.

I’m throwing in two songs by Kitty Pryde because I find her easy to relate to. We’re more or less seeing the same things, taking in the same scenery. Being eighteen and bumbling in NYC is uncomfortable.

“Tamale,” is in dedication to my prince’s video release. Tyler, you are my rock and my foundation. But in all seriousness, I greatly admire his boldness. Only certain people can get away with saying all the ironically ignorant things Ace spews.

The final song, “Wondering” acts as a palate cleanser after Tyler’s raunchy lyrics. Does This Offend You, Yeah? is known for their borderline cynical undertones that have been skillfully tucked under layers of dissonance. The underlying nature of the song speaks multitudes.

If you were having trouble guessing the theme of the playlist, it was “Deafman’s Delight.”

First of all, I went over 10 because I couldn’t narrow them down anymore. Sorry bout it (no I’m not). Also, I used youtube because none of the other sites I tried were cooperating so I just gave up on that.

So as you can see, this is probably the gayest playlist you’ve ever seen, complete with a ton of KPop and Gaga and even a song by a Drag Queen, but what do you expect from the gayest person you’ve ever seen. I chose these songs for a number of different reasons. Some of them I’d like to think apply to me and fit my personality. Some of them have special meaning to me. Some of them just are just songs that slay and I’ve been obsessed with lately (see Falling In Love). It also highlights the diversity of my music taste, even if most of it fits into the category of Pop (or KPop). Included, there are rap songs, reggae songs, dance songs, experimental songs (I highly recommend I Got A Boy), slow songs, soulful songs, and just plain fun songs. And the majority of the people I know don’t listen to KPop so they probably don’t know the majority of the songs, which makes this a good playlist to check out if you’re in search of new (flaw free) music.

IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER:

  1. Fashion – Lady Gaga
  2. Scheiße – Lady Gaga
  3. 남자 없이 잘 살아 (I Don’t Need A Man) – Miss A
  4. The Leaders – GDragon feat. Teddy and CL
  5. 세상을 흔들어 (Shake the World) – GDragon
  6. Twinkle – Girls’ Generation TaeTiSeo
  7. Baby – EXO
  8. 내가 제일 잘 나가 (I Am The Best) – 2NE1
  9. Born This Way (Acapella) – Lady Gaga
  10. Werqin’ Girl – Shangela
  11. I Got A Boy – Girls’ Generation
  12. Diva – Beyonce
  13. 나쁜 기집애 (The Baddest Female) – CL
  14. What You Waiting For – Gwen Stefani
  15. Gimme Gimme – Mademoiselle Yulia
  16. It’s Over – Lee Hi
  17. I’m a Diamond – Girls’ Generation
  18. Why So Serious? – SHINee
  19. Rude Boy – Rihanna
  20. Falling In Love – 2NE1

And last but not least, this is the company I work in. Payless plays a very important role in my life. It’s my first job. It means a lot to me because of my coworkers. Because they are more than that; they are family to me.
