My First Semester
I got this meme from the Baruch Memes page on facebook and I think it describes this semester perfectly. This was definitely a tough semester. It was hard to adjust to the new college life and realizing that suddenly there’s no one to hold your hand or tell you what to do. It’s all up to you now. I come from Brooklyn Tech which has a total population of 6000 kids. So the vast amount of students wasn’t too different. But the material was harder, keeping up with deadlines was harder. Over here it’s like you either do bad or good. It’s all about numbers and getting ahead. The worst part of it is not knowing where you stand. That’s the most nervous thing. I really don’t know what I don’t know. Adjusting to some of my classes was hard and some of them were easy. Philosophy has been one of my hardest classes and will continue to be. It’s one of those classes you find completely pointless and you just don’t understand because there’s no right answer. English has also been a lot of work. However, I really like Baruch’s community. I get so many more opportunities here that I could have never dreamed of in high school. There’s so many resources available. It’s your job to make the best out of it. The students here are so much more friendlier than the high school I went to. Everyone is nice and helpful. Every time I have a question I know there’s someone that can help me. All in all, although it has been tough I honestly love Baruch. I think it’s just hard for everyone first semester because we don’t know what out GPA is like yet but it has been fun. I did meet a lot of people and I am glad I came to Baruch.
