Hi everyone! Personally, I think my music describes who I am as an individual. Not because of the music itself or the lyrics or content of the songs, but rather the affect that the music has on me. I’m sure that I am one of millions of people that say they cannot survive without the influence of music in their lives. Music is an escape from the real world. It has the power to take you from your worst mood to something completely different. As you can see by my blog post, I have a pretty wide spectrum of music that I like to listen to but if I had to narrow it down, I would say that my favorite genres of music are rap and house music. However I do not prefer any one genre of music of another. My favorite artists consist of Kanye West, Jay Z, The Notorious BIG, Black Sabbath, and a wide variety of house music DJs and producers. The music I listen to when I am rested or in a neutral mood would be by Kanye West or Jay Z. Although the melodies and beats are usually very powerful, I enjoy listening to the lyrics and understanding them. I guess I could also say I enjoy Jay Z because I am from Brooklyn just like he is so I understand many of his references. I love listening to house music when I need a “pick me up.” There’s just something about the fast paced beats and the base drops that always get me in a good mood. Also, this music represents a part of who I am because I enjoy going to Electric Dance Music festivals and concerts whenever I have a chance. Whenever I am doing any physical activity such as working out in the gym or playing basketball, I tend to listen to heavy metal because somehow it turns me into a bit of a more aggressive person which can play to my advantage when doing these activities.  The other songs that I listed are just random songs that I had come across in either video games, the radio, or by simple accident.
