Peiyi’s post #4

We went to the Rubin Museum of Art as the enrichment workshop. It did not inspire me in any way, however I don’t mind learning about it. We went as a class, saw different paintings, and were explained by someone from the museum. Even though we didn’t have time to look at every exhibition, we learned a lot from what we saw already. Art is not something that would interest me, and I would not go to a museum of art if I don’t have to. But once I’m there, I find it very fascinating. I respect art from every culture, and it is amazing how those artists have combine their thoughts into the works. The enrichment workshop did not truly affect me, but at least I learned and enjoyed over there.

My Baruch experience so far was not bad. I got familiar with Baruch by exploring the buildings, and using available sources like the library. I also met great friends within our LC class and outside of it. But the most difficult thing for me in college is to have a good grade and involve in clubs or social areas at the same time. There were times when I wanted to participate in some events, but I ended up doing school works because I was procrastinating at first. I always do my works on the night before the due day and I was not surprised by some low grades. But I think I should stop this now, because college is not like high school, I need to put in more efforts to have a good grade. And college is a step closer to my future, I should take it more seriously. Therefore time management is the key.

Peiyi’s 2nd blog

My group is called Baruch Nation Wide, a group that focus on nation’s news, and we decided to discuss the issue of alcohol abuse. I found two articles on New York Times that are related to that topic. The first one was about peer pressure on drinking. We always think that we make rational decisions for ourselves, but what we do not realize is we learn from others. Peer pressure has always been the case to study. When being asked by how much do their peers drink in the party, students always overestimate the numbers, and they drink more because they think their peers are also doing the same thing. Not only we don’t realize how fast we are influenced by others, but we also like to deny this fact. Surveys have done to show that most students have this wrongly thinking. To help their students to drink less when they party, universities’ staffs have told them that others are actually drink less than they think, and the numbers of alcohol abuse did decrease. The second article was about how our bodies can be affected by drinking. As we age, our bodies can have stronger reactions to the same amount that we drink before. Doctors discussed that our body water decrease when we become older, and the concentration of alcohol stays in our bodies longer. There were also other effects can harm us when we drink alcohol. There are universities still trying to cut down the numbers of alcohol abusers, because accidents can always happen, but it is also students’ responsibilities to take care of themselves. Think, before you drink.

Peiyi’s first blog

sharing my life

Hey everyone, this is Peiyi, I know I don’t talk much in school,  but I’ll introduce myself through this blog therefore you can get to know about me.

I was born and raised in China, and I came here with my family few years ago. We live in Queens and I liked it here. I went to Cardozo High school and met a lot of friends,  they made my high school years the best memory so far. When I’m around them, I can be really crazy and laughing like there is nothing to worry about if they are with me. Friendship has always been the most important to me.  I like to travel and I have been to few other states before. My favorite state is Boston, it is very clean over there, and people that I met were nice too. If I can, I’ll  move to Boston and spent my adulthood there. I also like to have a job in the summer, I worked with little children and in the nail salon before. Getting to associate with other people through work have made my life more colorful, therefore I always enjoy my work. Music can always comfort me in someway. My favorite artist is G-dragon, the leader of Korean group called Bigbang. I like his music, his talent, his smile, and almost everything about him. If you guys get to know him, he’ll become your favorite too. Lastly, as you all know, I study at Baruch College,  I like my LC classmates, and I hope to have a nice job in the future.
