The enrichment workshop (going to the Rubin Museum) was an interesting experience, but I didn’t really feel inspired. The art itself looked well-done and interesting, though. It amazed me how ancient the art looked, yet still in good condition. I did learn a bit about Tibetan and Buddhist customs at the museum, which was fascinating. It is always good to look at new art, and amazing how art from different cultures gets created. Overall, the enrichment experience was a great experience.

Izzy’s Blog Post 3
..Just kidding, here’s the real image:

It’s amazing how much different college is compared to high school, due to how much is expected of you. My experience has been pretty great, besides a few classes. I love being able to take breaks between classes, meeting new people, and just overall enjoy the atmosphere, which is a huge difference from high school. The workload is a lot greater, but there is also a lot more free time than HS. I do need to step up my game in a few classes, and I will definitely try a lot harder next semester. I am learning to become a lot more independent than I ever was before, and I am learning to create my own path for my future. Overall, I enjoy Baruch, and like the people I have met so far.
Blog Post # 2 by Ismael Khalil
My group’s name is the Style Society: A Global Revolution, with the topic of fashion, because with different types of fashion, there are different cultural impacts. I was responsible for finding two Baruch events with a topic relating to fashion, and both of them involve the Fashion At Baruch club. My first article is about the club hosting a scavenger hunt sponsored by Macy’s. I chose this because the club is promoting shopping at Macy’s, which could lead to people attempting to get into fashion.
My second article is about the club hosting a modelling competition next week. I chose this because people will try to get into the right fashion to impress the voters. The club really does want people interested in fashion to join them, and hopefully to interest new people in it.
Both articles represent FAB attempting to promote themselves and the idea of getting into fashion. I think they’re doing a great job at it, and they should keep it up!
Getting to Know Izzy
Hello, my name is Ismael, or Izzy, whichever you prefer. Anyway, here’s my music playlist:
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1DBEcmG6C4NZplPClJ5WXd8qsM_zG9Tz&feature=mh_lolz (lol at the last four letters)
Number 1, I Walk Alone by Tarja Turunen, is (supposedly) based on her being fired from her former band Nightwish, and stating that she’s still standing strong as a solo artist. This song connects to me because even though people have tried to bring me down in the past, I overcame these problems and used them to make myself stronger.
Number 2, Win by Brian McKnight, is about not giving up, no matter what life throws at you. This song represents me not giving up, no matter how tough the challenge is, even Calculus Homework.
Number 3, We Are the Champions by Queen, is about fighting to the top and achieving victory (another way to say “Started from the Bottom”), which represents my sense of accomplishment of completing high school and my acceptance to Baruch.
Number 4, Cat’s in the Cradle by Harry Chaplin, is about a father who can never make time to spend with his son, and when his son grows up, he never has time to spend with his father. While it doesn’t necessarily relate to me, it reminded me that your children only grow up once, and it’s an event you should witness and make the best of.
Number 5, Take on Me by a-Ha, is about taking chances in relationships, and life in general. It convinced me of what I just mentioned, that I should take risks in life when necessary.
Number 6, Field of Innocence by Evanescence, is about growing up too fast and discovering life isn’t all sunshine and lollipops. This connects to me for obvious reasons, discovering how cruel life can really be.
Number 7, Bodies by Drowning Pool, relates to me because I find wrestling entertaining (I know it’s fake though), and this song is somewhat related to that.
Number 8, Acceptance Speech by Dance Gavin Dance, involves acceptance in society, which pertains to me because I used to concern myself a lot about this, but now I consider it best to just be yourself.
Number 9, Vom Selben Stern (We’re From the Same Star) by Ich und Ich, is a German song about everyone being equal, even displaying this by showing the singer’s image constantly changing into different people from various backgrounds, yet sending a message that we’re all from the same world, which I respect a lot. What strikes me as amazing is that the singer has an Arabic background, but is a popular German singer, reminding me of myself as a half Egyptian, half German person.
Last but not least, In the End by Linkin Park, which is about living in the moment and not by the clock. It also means that it’s not the destination that matters, but the journey that makes the biggest impact. This song has taught me a lot.
That’s all, folks! Hope you enjoyed it.
