leadership workshop

The leadership seminar was very interesting. I learned what qualities a leader must have and how to become a leader. The seminar was truly a unique experience and the speakers showed their unique points of view. Although parts of the seminar were long and tedious the overall experience was definitely worth it.

leadership seminar

I had a great time at the leadership seminar. I learnt many skills essential to my survival in the buissness world. Leaders lead by example not by force. If you want to be a leader  without making enemies be a peaceful leader while acknowledging the will of your followers. This will surley lead to success in my future.

My experience at Baruch

My experience at at this school is pretty much what I expected. I expected a commuter school where there’s none of the “typical college life” experience. I’m glad I am still in the city because I love the city. I do wish there was some campus life but it’s the choice that I was willing to take to go here. Although it is quite a change from a 8-4 30 schedule, I like it.  I like my classes this semester. Hope to go abroad.

Ruben Museum

I learned several things about the Buddhist culture from the museum. They have several goals.  Apparently, in buddhism, getting to the top of the mountain is a goal.  Another goal is not to be reborn. There was a shrine room. The Buddhist statues have different hand gestures to symbolize different things. I never knew this before.

Rubin Museum

My visit to the museum was a little different than everyone else’s. It started off with a fairly interesting cab ride because I couldn’t walk due to my knee injury. The driver thought it was appropriate to burp repeatedly throughout the ride, and wouldn’t hang up his phone when I voiced my concern that he was talking on the phone while driving. I got to the museum a few minutes before the class, and was victorious in my two FIFA 2014 matches while I waited for the class to get there. I was then introduced to the beauty of the Buddhist culture and learned a lot about something I never would’ve learned. NEVER STOP CLIMBING.

Freshman Seminar Experience

In all honesty, this experience had both negative and positive sides to it. While I did enjoy having a group of students to be with was a good way to help me assimilate into college, and it was definitely helpful in making sure that I stayed on track. However, sometimes it would seem that the Tuesday sessions were a waste of time. But some would be very useful, the day that we discussed out schedules was very useful, because it allowed me to plan out my schedule appropriately without making any mistakes. Although a mixed bag, there was more good than bad, and it was a very useful experience to have.

FRO Review

My overall experience in FRO was pretty positive. It was helpful and informative regarding the transition from high school to college. Without having this class at the beginning of the semester I would have been very confused as to how college works. The part that I found the most helpful was when we had to create our new schedules for the new semester. I was able to understand which classes that I would need to take for my major and the necessary classes that I would have to take in order to graduate.

It is great that we are given similar blocks this semester because we are able to help each other and help our transition be smoother. Both Ms. Lancia and Namit were very helpful with clearly answering any questions about Baruch. This was a very informing class regarding the school and how everything works which I felt was beneficial to us as first semester freshman.

Leadership Workshop

We attended a leadership workshop as part of our learning community last week. The exercises were pretty dull and boring. I could relate to the students  better than the leaders in the presentation. This workshop had somehow motivated me to attend more clubs and become more involved in things at school rather than just attending class and leaving. One of the leaders was from New Jersey and she still had the time to go to activities afterschool even though she gets home really late. This was very admirable and I feel like that she has a lot of determination. I’ll look into more clubs as my time in Baruch grows. Clubs are great ways in order to meet new people and become a better leader in the future. These roles in clubs and other after school activities are the things that you will remember after graduation. To be a good leader you have to be able to step up and become a voice for your followers. Going to this workshop helped me understand what some qualities of a leader are. In order for me to be a leader, I need to find something that I’m passionate in and actually am willing to work hard for this. In order to find someplace like this, I would have to research and go to many difficult clubs to see where I think I would fit in the best. I could also join other things other than clubs like Team Baruch, the PAWS program or other different positions throughout campus. If I were to be a part of Team Baruch I could help incoming students adjusting to their school and act as a leader to them. By doing so, I could enhance my skills as a leader and make sure that others can also become leaders after my guidance.  Overall, the workshop  helped broaden my horizons and think of other ways to become a leader as a student as Baruch College.

Workshop Experience

In my honest opinion, I think that the leaders that were present that day were repeating things that were ‘common knowledge’. I think most, if not all, of our LC knew that clubs were where leadership started… Most of what the leaders there said were already known to our LC.

However, that does not mean that it’s not important. Rather, I feel like they were repeating it because joining a club is that important to them. It felt like the presenters were really stressing how important it is to join and be a part of a club (which I agree with). In that way, I guess the workshop wasn’t entirely a failure.

I felt like it would have been a better idea if the workshop was conducted in a smaller manner. It felt as if there were too many people in the workshop, and the message wasn’t as impactful as it should have been because there were too many people. Due to the enormous amount of people, there wasn’t really a connection with the audience; which I felt was needed in this case.

Overall, I wouldn’t say that I was thrilled about the workshop, but I don’t think it was a waste of my time either. Attending the workshop reinforced the importance of joining a club. It made me glad to be a part of a club. I also was kind of interested when the presenters announced that we would have an activity… but I was disappointed with the activity, it wasn’t very active at all. I would have liked it if the presenters incorporated more active activities.
