The songs in my playlist reflect who I am as a person, what I believe in or how I felt at some point in my life. Starting from the beginning, I included “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra to pay homage to the city where I’m from, and the city that I live in today. No matter what happens in the future, New York and New York culture is embedded in my life. Moving down the playlist, “Clarity” by Zedd and “Better Off Alone” by Alice DJ are two songs that I listen to when I need motivation before a big project. Both songs remind me of times when I had let go of my past and deep seeded regrets to move on to the future. I added “Que Sera Sera” and “Let It Be” to express my inner belief that “what will be, will be”. Even though I look and sound serious all the time on the surface, I accept the fact that things happen. I really put these songs out there to say that I’m a more laid-back person than I might look during classes. “Wake Me Up” makes me wish that “I could stay this young forever” so I could enjoy what’s around me and appreciate the people who are always there. I heard the seventh song, “Believe” by The Bravery, so many times as I played Madden NFL ’08 on my computer. The song always made me feel like a small fish in an ocean full of fishes. Every time I hear the song, it reminds me to always have a purpose in everything I do, otherwise, “we’re living just to breathe”.
The eighth and ninth songs convey my beliefs on love and hope. Having gone through high school and the stereotypical relationship, I know that I will eventually “Love Somebody” again and hopefully, “I Could be the One”. If the reader(s) can forgive my terrible wordplay, I snuck in the last song, the theme from “Catch Me If You Can” to say that I’m not an easy person to catch (in a literal sense). My friends always complain about two things: I habitually walk too fast and I’m incredibly difficult to spot in a large crowd because I look similar to a lot of people.
