Well this turned out to be quite the interesting read for this week for my FRO LC20 class. Who knew so much garbage took place and went on undiscovered in our world? It really is a big world after all.
Now for the first article, of all the places that I would expect cheating, Harvard University was not on the list. I was shocked to have read something like this and I did not expect these kids to abuse their privileges as students at such a top-notch institution. I can’t even begin to imagine what must have went on in their minds while they were instituting this little caper of theirs. Cheating is wrong and they should have been expelled for what they did. They should have been barred from any and every college out there. They took advantage of a professor’s graciousness in assigning them a take-home final exam and cheated. That’s just wrong. W-R-O-N-G! They were lucky to have comeback to Harvard after that incident. They put the Harvard name to shame.
The second article, in my opinion was a tear jerker. It was sad to read that the women in Nepal were just bought and sold just like they were common household items. It was wrong. They were unnecessarily treated like dirt and I felt sorry for them. No person should feel or be treated as subhuman or inferior to another regardless of age, sex, race, etc. it is morally wrong and it is humanly wrong. I am disgusted by the way that Nepal, a peaceful country, engages in the trade of women. Their lives are traded away for what? Slavery, Prostitution? Are they not meant to think freely and live independently from the oppression in which they live in? I feel bad for these women and I feel angry that this injustice happened to them. I can only pray that their treatment changes for the better.
