Who is Serena? :D

Howdy peeps.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Serena, and I’m supposed to be your worst nightmare new friend. I am really excited to be able to go to Baruch College with everyone here. (As you can tell, I’m really friendly) I love going on trips and doing volunteer work. I donate a good dose of B positive every six months, and I wrap presents for good children during Christmas.

I don’t have an interest in any particular field or major, and I don’t have an idea of what I would like to do in the future. The reason is because the world is just full of possibilities. I have lived in New York City for the majority of my life, and it has made me realized that just about anything is possible with the amount of opportunities found here. You could say that I’m quite indecisive. It takes me 30 minutes to decide what I want to order if I go to a new restaurant (I wish I was joking). This feeling of indecisiveness is similar to that of Sylvia Plath’s character in The Bell Jar. The Bell Jar happens to be one of my favorite books because of how relatable the protagonist is, but unlike the her, I am not that depressing. I’m more optimistic because I like to think that there is a silver lining in every bad situation, not matter how awful, heart-wrenching, sad, disgusting, disturbing, and/or depressing it is. I also consider myself to be quite jolly because I love scaring children during Halloween and watching people get pranked.

I have a part-time job as a cashier. I work because I want to lessen the financial burdens on my parents. I love my parents, but I also want to be considerate of how they pay for nearly everything in my life. I want to help out my family as much as I possibly could before being able to help support them myself. My parents have taught me that being considerate of others is a part of being respectful, which is what I try to keep in mind every time I interact with people I’m not familiar with.

I also consider myself to be adventurous. I have been told that when I was younger, I’ve been to Hong Kong and the countryside in China, but in all honesty, I can’t remember a thing! That is why when I have the chance later in life, I would like to visit the places where my parents and ancestors came from and the many more places where they never even went. This probably shows how ambitious I could be; I often bite off more than I can chew when it comes to short-term and long-term goals.
