I like it here at Baruch College; the location of the campus is convenient, there are plenty of activities, and a lot more opportunities. I like how I can sleep in late because the school day doesn’t start at exactly 8:00 a.m. every weekday; I also like how each of my professors have their own guidelines and standards when it comes to attendance and homework. What surprises me the most is how easy the transition from high school to college is for me. From what I heard, I actually thought it was going to be more uncomfortable and awkward. In a way, it is, but not so much that it irks me and makes me really upset for the first few weeks of school.
While I’m doing well in most of my classes, I get really nervous during tests. Especially calculus. In fact, calculus is the bane of my existence. Whenever I tell an upperclassman that I’m a freshman, they always smile and say that the first year of college is the easiest. It’s true, but then there’s calculus: my worst enemy in school. Math had always been easy for me, from elementary to middle to high school. Now I dislike it so much that I want to avoid it as much as possible. Thanks college and Newton.
