This video represents who I am by following the simple time period of my life. Although it is not too much, and there might be much that has been left out. I believe that by knowing where someone comes from, people are able to have a general idea of who one is. I have created this video by using Adobe Illustrator and a basic video making program that I had on my computer. I had always loved art and creating art. So in my free time I made random illustrations and videos. Using this past experience I was able to make a fairly nice video (in my opinion). I did not draw all the illustrations, but most of them are mine and a few, such as the outline of the Korean peninsula, was taken from the internet.

While making this video I went through the huge music files that I had. I did have lot of music, but I wanted something something that was instrumental. However it still was a huge collection, more than 1000 songs. So I went through them and found the perfect one that fit to my concept. It was tranquil but had a nice excited beat. After that I spent about 4 hours and finished the video. It took me this long just because I had to draw everything and also try to get everything into a nice flowing animation.

I would say that the following images represent who I am. These different occasions would seem to make up who I am. The first image is an image of a rave. I’d say this represents me because of the fact that I like to rave. It’s fun being in that type of atmosphere and the music is great. With the second image, it’s an image of me doing the Nike. I used to really be into break dancing but then I started to change into shuffling and different footwork. However, I’d say I’m still pretty into dancing in general which is why I chose this image to represent me. I think I love dancing just because it’s a form of expressing oneself and it’s just great seeing yourself improve over time. The third image is a selfie of myself in Taiwan. I chose this mostly because of the fact that it takes place in Taiwan. This represents me because it’s from where my family is from. I love it every time I go back because there’s this sense of tranquility and a feeling that I don’t quite feel here in NY. Maybe it’s the change in the scenery itself but it’s still great every time I go back. The forth image is an image of me with my friends. The reason why I chose this image is because I love being with my friends. Chilling out and relaxing with them is always comforting and will always be. The fifth image I chose was an image of food. The reason being is just because I love food. It’s great and it keeps me alive. I would love to travel the world to try the different foods and whatever is good in the different regions. The sixth image I chose was a picture of a panda. I guess I chose it because I love animals. It’s always interesting to see just the way they are and how they live. Seeing animals I’d say is also a great comfort and always fun to do. The seventh image I chose is me with friends again. I’d say the reason why I chose this one is because it shows me fooling around which I love doing and it’s just a part of my personality. The final image I chose is an image of me in an arcade. I guess it’s because I like playing games, it’s always a fun activity, to be put into another world and going through it. It’s like an interactive movie but better.

These eight pictures I managed to scrape up aren’t the greatest in terms of photographic skill, but they do remind me of fond memories. Each photo has it’s own little story (they aren’t all that interesting) and although it doesn’t represent who I am completely, it gives a little bit of insight on my current situation. The first photo was my attempt at capturing a park environment. Although I’ve only been at Madison Square Park a couple of times, it brings a sense of calming serenity. Whether I’m eating cart-food with friends or just watching people rush across the park, it’s always a relaxing experience which I enjoy. I experience a similar mood when I’m in the library as well. The photo of Kelven is pretty funny because he struck an interesting pose (to say the least) when I told him I was going to take a photo of him. They say the people you surround yourself around are a good representation of who you are. Kelven is the first person I really talked to outside of class at Baruch and he’s pretty chill – so I guess that means I’m chill too. The photo of myself with the skyline in the background is recent, going back to my birthday. Turning eighteen is a bit nerve wrecking because of the fact that you realize your childhood is pretty much done and it’s all responsibility from here on out. I think it’s important that I realized this early so I can make smarter decisions that would reflect a responsible person. The two photos of food and dessert kind of just show the types of things I enjoy eating. I feel like everyone considers themselves a “foodie” these days, so I’ll just stick with saying I like to eat things that taste good. I believe if any meal is presented well, it could even make up how the food actually tastes. I try to keep an open-mind when it comes to food, but in a broader sense I think this applies with everyday communication as well. The idea of growing responsibility is a recurring theme because it is a big aspect of who I am; the photo of all my schoolwork portrays that. College is different the sense that you have to manage your time wisely and improve work ethic. These are some important qualities that I’d like to think I have learned over the years. Lastly, the photo of the “hands on the wheel” are meant to show the comfort of driving. I recently got my license which was a nice accomplishment for me. Driving is pretty relaxing (well at least in my suburban neighborhood.) Once again, the theme of responsibility strikes in this photo. As you grow older, you become wiser and knowledge is power. But we all know that with great power, comes great responsibility.

Haram’s slideshow

This slideshow represents who I am. The first picture is my family. They’re my cousins who I grew up with and the girl is one of my cousin’s girlfriend. The second picture is a picture of the city, which is significant because now I come to the city 5 days a week for school. The third picture is a picture of me and my friends eating dinner after graduating high school. The fourth picture is my dog, Sarah. I had her for four years and is considered family. The fifth picture is when I graduated out of youth group in church. I took the picture with my pastor, who served as my mentor and adviser. The sixth picture is the capital of Korea, Seoul. This is where I was born and raised for three years. The seventh picture is a picture of me and a snake. This picture serves to show that I love animals. The last picture is a silly picture of me and two other boys from my church. Church is like a second home to me and the boys are like my brothers.

Julie’s picture slideshow

The slideshow I created represents who I am. The first picture is of a ruin in Cambodia. This summer I visited Cambodia for the first time in ten years and the trip proved to be amazing. The picture captivates the beauty of the country and shows my love for traveling. The second picture is of my dog. I recently adopted him and he has become a major part of my life. I’ve always been an animal lover and ever since becoming his owner, I have become happier. The third picture is of a macaroni and cheese dish. I love trying different foods from different restaurants, and this picture shows my love for food. The fourth picture is of the scenery in Hong Kong. I was able to visit Hong Kong for the first time this summer and it was a great experience. The fifth picture is of a flower. I love flowers and their smell, so this shows my love for flowers. The sixth picture is of a milk tea drink and it’s one of my favorite drinks. The seventh picture is of a scenic view. I love nature and this picture captures the beauty of nature. My last picture is a book that I’ve read over the summer. I love reading and this book is one of my favorites of all time.

I decided to use pictures from key moments in my life. In the majority of these photos I’m with at least a friend or a family member or even an animal! Even if I’m by myself in the photo with a real smile, it’s not because I’m content with being on my own or because I admire myself, instead the setting of the photo is the cause of my happiness. For example, there’s a photo where I’m standing in front of a large body of water in the middle of a bridge. I was in Florence, Italy for the first time when it was taken. The fact that I was fortunate enough to go to Europe before any of my other family members and be blessed to see such a beautiful site is what made me smile. Not because I was posing for a picture, genuinely because I was content on where I was. Going back to my first photo sitting in the church with a huge dress looking like a princess, that was an important moment to me not only because it was my quinceanera and I was finally turning 15, but it brought me closer to my culture, understanding what it is to be Latina and being accepted into my Hispanic community as a “grown” woman. The photos where I have company of a human form, are there to show that I enjoy sharing special moments with the people that mean so much to me. There’s one of my guy friends and I at prom who I’ve known since elementary school and another prom picture with the girls on the soccer team that became an extra family during high school and I’m so grateful to have encountered. Another moment during graduation where I’m with two of my guy friends showing how we made it through four years of hard work and obstacles and off to begin a new chapter in our lives. One of the most important things to me is family. I have a couple of pictures with my brothers and my mother and random photos of hanging out in the backyard with a campfire to celebrate my 18th birthday. Family and friends are the key to living the good life. Of course we cannot forget the goats and dog in my life. I love animals and i’m obsessed with goats and lions. Obviously I can’t take a picture with a lion but goats are amazing already. All these pictures that are from different time periods of my life demonstrate how much of a grateful, appreciative and an attempt to be outgoing kind of person I am. The cause of my happiness isn’t just because of me, it’s due to the support and love I get from family, friends, my culture and of course my animals especially my lovable pit bull Rex.

Colleen’s Playlist (Post #1)

Alright, so I decided to go for the boring route and create a ten-song playlist to represent myself, since I couldn’t come up with crap for the other options. Yeah, sorry. So anyhow, these are a couple of my favorite songs. Pretty much all of these are rock songs, ’cause that’s my sorta thing, I guess. Now, I don’t actually relate to the lyrics of any of these songs. Actually, none of the songs I like really have lyrics that are relevant to my very boring life. So how exactly do these songs represent me? Well, if you listen to these songs, you may notice that, despite being rock songs, most of these tunes have a pretty mellow tempo…er, for the most part. This reflects my lazy laidback personality. So in other words, it’s really just the style of the songs that speak to me, rather than the subject matter of the lyrics. They also provide a pretty good insight on my overall taste in music…I mean, these types of songs are probably the only thing I really listen to nowadays. For better or worse.
