My Experience At Baruch

I couldn’t wait to start college – it was a new beginning and a new experience and I’ve looked forward to it for months.

I remember coming in on the first day of classes and seeing how alive the college was compared to what it was like over the summer.. Pretty sure I looked something like this..

After a week or so, I’d already adjusted to waking up early and commuting for an hour to get to school on time. I also got used to my classes, and the material was fairly easy in the beginning.. However, as the weeks went on, the material got slightly harder since we were no longer reviewing material we learned in high school. And then, the first set of exams came around.. We were all freaking out and we didn’t know what to review for first since there was so much and our 2 exams were on the same day!

That was the wake up call I needed. I realized that I’m now in college, and that if I don’t do my work, make sure I understand the material and pass the exams it is my own fault, no one else’s. So I developed new study habits (I never studied in High School so this was a new concept for me haha)

Highlighting, color-coding, study sheets with side notes, etcetc.

I began doing that for every exam and quiz, and so far so good~ Lets just hope that continues..  Not only did I develop new study habits, but I also learned to manage my time better. As the months went by, and waking up early took a toll on me, studying became harder because this would happen..

At this point, I was thinking “Why is college so much work? Why is it so stressful?” My life was almost completely revolving around school, and honestly I didn’t like having my social life taken away from me because of all this work. But as I managed my time more, and worked out a schedule for what I had to do that day and throughout the week, I noticed that there is time to be social still (Thankfully).

Its been.. What? Almost 3 months now? Yet I still feel like this every morning

And like this everyday after school (especially Tuesdays and Thursdays)

But thats life, I guess. Wish life had more time to sleep.. Maybe more hours in the day. LOL

My favorite memory in FRO would definitely have to be the time we played that game where we all had stand in a circle and then make a tangled mess of ourselves and somehow get back into a circle without letting go of the other person’s hand. I don’t know why but that day just kind of made it feel like we’ve been classmates for more than just 2 months because we were all laughing and having fun and it was just a really entertaining activity.

There are 2 things I look forward to for next semester;

1. Finishing classes at an earlier time (Unlike now, when I get home at 6:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays ._.)

2. Taking a music class since its a subject I really love.
