This first blog post includes pictures that will help others understand who I am. My first picture is of my family and I. My mother, father, and older sister have been by my side since the day I was born. Through monumental events, including my high school graduation shown above, they have been my number one supporters by pushing me to do my best; therefore, helping me get to where I am today. My second picture is of my two best friends, Kristen and JoAnn. I’ve known these girls since I was five years old, as we became best friends on the first day of kindergarten. We graduated eighth grade together and going our separate ways for high school and now college was definitely one of the hardest things we’ve been through. Despite that, it only made our friendship stronger and we still remain inseparable. My third picture is of my close friends I made in high school. The transition from a Catholic elementary school to a public high school was terrifying, but I managed to love every minute of it all because of my amazing friends. I miss seeing their faces everyday, but we all manage to stay close despite the distance of our colleges. My fourth picture shows me at the three proms I attended during my senior year. I’m grateful to have two close guy friends and to have been able to share these special moments with them. I would do anything to relive them! My fifth and sixth pictures are of my Varsity basketball and Varsity flag football teams. I am extremely blessed to have played Varsity sports for all four years of high school. This has made me into a strong competitor and a focused athlete. Also, being named Captain in my senior year, I learned leadership roles and gained new responsibilities that I will hold onto for the rest of my life. My seventh picture is a photo of a group of special needs children I work with and my fellow counselors. Working at a special needs camp has drastically impacted my life. I have not only learned how to interact with children with special needs, but I also gained a new perspective on life. I should never take things for granted because there may be people who are less fortunate than me, and I should always lend a hand to someone in need. It’s the greatest feeling seeing someone smile! My eighth picture is when I met Nick Jonas. He is and forever will be my favorite celebrity. Nick Jonas has diabetes and deals with hardships everyday. He helps me get through my struggles and inspires me to live everyday to the fullest and give everything my all, just like he does in his singing career. Finally, to close off my blog, I included a picture of Baruch. This can show everyone where these last eight pictures have gotten me and where I am today and will be for the next four years. My future is bright and I am grateful for all the people that have helped me become who I am!
Hi Caroline,
I am glad to hear that you had an amazing time in high school. I hope Baruch will be as memorable as your high school. I also admire your ability to look in the bright side of things and desire to learn about others.
Best,
Shanima
Thank you so much for sharing! I hope that you become as active in Baruch life as you were in high school, whether it be a sports team or somewhere were you show your leadership skills. There are many opportunities for you to pursue here. Also, I love your positive outlook on life.
