BlogPost #3 Meme

screen-shot-2012-05-03-at-6-59-30-pm

My first three months at Baruch have been some memorable ones.  I’ve embarked on an insane journey that will lead me into a bright future.  I have made amazing friends; people that have helped me get through this semester, people that I enjoy hanging out with, and people that will always stay close to my heart.  However, my first three months at Baruch have been immensely stressful.  I’m not going to lie, it’s been a huge transition.  In the beginning, I eased into the college life, getting through homework and some quizzes.  Before my midterm exams, I had to gather all my prep materials.  My peers and I (like the polar bears)  got ready together, having study sessions and putting together outlines.  Then, as they came closer, it really began to hit me.  What felt like endless nights, constant studying, no social life, and A LOT of coffee.  I wasn’t sure if I could make it.  FInally, as soon as I finished my last midterm, I felt a huge burden be lifted from my soldiers.  I slept for an insane amount of hours!  However, now that I got through midterms, the polar bears in this meme have just reminded me that I need to relive this all over again for finals and through my next three years at Baruch! I can’t wait to see what the future holds and I’m so thankful for everything I’ve experienced and learned throughout these past three months!

Monologue

“My Better Half”
Four years of high school, and maybe three words were said to each other. We traveled the same hallways and even had the same classes together, and the longest conversation we had was probably, “Hey, what’s up?” It’s mind blowing how we’ve managed to go from strangers to best friends, and now we’re inseparable. Every day spent together, talks on the phone, walks in the park. You make me smile, laugh, and glow. You make me a better person, you make me who I am, and you’ve become my better half. But now, our days are numbered and you’re leaving me soon. I support you in becoming a Marine, but I know this won’t be easy. You always tell me that this isn’t goodbye, it’s just see ya later. You’re like a cherry blossom, you’re about to bloom. You’re so attractive, but you’ll be gone soon. I can’t stand knowing that we’ll be so far away from each other. You tell me to stay strong for you, but I feel like I’m losing a part of myself. I know you’ll be coming home to me, and I’ll be waiting here, counting down the days. I can’t wait to see your smile and your bright green eyes. I can’t wait to hear your stories and I can’t wait to see how you’ve changed. Having you back home will be the greatest feeling in the world. I’m so lucky you’re mine.

Email to my Professor

Subject Line: Question regarding Eng 2100 assignment

Dear Professor Anonymous,

I have been working on my persuasive essay that is due on October 2nd, and I have been having some difficulty writing about my topic of “Why you should be a vegetarian.” Do you have any suggestions on a direction I could take, or should I simply change my topic? Also, would you prefer MLA or APA format for the works cited page? Thank you for your time!

Best,

Caroline DelVecchio

This first blog post includes pictures that will help others understand who I am. My first picture is of my family and I. My mother, father, and older sister have been by my side since the day I was born. Through monumental events, including my high school graduation shown above, they have been my number one supporters by pushing me to do my best; therefore, helping me get to where I am today. My second picture is of my two best friends, Kristen and JoAnn. I’ve known these girls since I was five years old, as we became best friends on the first day of kindergarten. We graduated eighth grade together and going our separate ways for high school and now college was definitely one of the hardest things we’ve been through. Despite that, it only made our friendship stronger and we still remain inseparable. My third picture is of my close friends I made in high school. The transition from a Catholic elementary school to a public high school was terrifying, but I managed to love every minute of it all because of my amazing friends. I miss seeing their faces everyday, but we all manage to stay close despite the distance of our colleges. My fourth picture shows me at the three proms I attended during my senior year. I’m grateful to have two close guy friends and to have been able to share these special moments with them. I would do anything to relive them! My fifth and sixth pictures are of my Varsity basketball and Varsity flag football teams. I am extremely blessed to have played Varsity sports for all four years of high school. This has made me into a strong competitor and a focused athlete. Also, being named Captain in my senior year, I learned leadership roles and gained new responsibilities that I will hold onto for the rest of my life. My seventh picture is a photo of a group of special needs children I work with and my fellow counselors. Working at a special needs camp has drastically impacted my life. I have not only learned how to interact with children with special needs, but I also gained a new perspective on life. I should never take things for granted because there may be people who are less fortunate than me, and I should always lend a hand to someone in need. It’s the greatest feeling seeing someone smile! My eighth picture is when I met Nick Jonas. He is and forever will be my favorite celebrity. Nick Jonas has diabetes and deals with hardships everyday. He helps me get through my struggles and inspires me to live everyday to the fullest and give everything my all, just like he does in his singing career. Finally, to close off my blog, I included a picture of Baruch. This can show everyone where these last eight pictures have gotten me and where I am today and will be for the next four years. My future is bright and I am grateful for all the people that have helped me become who I am!
