The Freedom of a College Student by: Chad Seaver

About a month and a half into my first semester of college, I can clearly see the major differences between high school and college life. Since I’ve entered college, my parents have given me the freedom and space I need in order to make that transition into adulthood. I manage my finances, commute an hour each day, and cook for myself occasionally ( however, I usually order takeout). In addition, I have learned how to cope with multiple hindrances that I face in college. With midterms and book reports, I deal with stress and the consequences of getting 5 hours of sleep each night. In high school, on the other hand, I was able to deal with the workload hardly with any stress. But from the great amount of work I have received in college already, I have learned how to manage my time effectively each day. There is a ton of getting used to in Baruch College, and I believe that this change is going to have a positive impact on both my academic and social life. With the freedom I have as a college student, I have taken on more responsibilities and this has opened my eyes to seeing a glimpse of what the real world is like.
