Academic Post (3rd Post) V.A.R.K. Quiz

image1The V.A.R.K. Quiz helps an individual determine what their most benficial style of learning. The quiz consists of various questions that pose a dilemma or situation and then you must circle the best answer that’s closest to how you would approach the situation. The answer choices have distinct assets of each type of learner (kinesthetic, visual, etc.). After calculating my score, it was determined that I was mostly a kinesthetic learner. I take a more hands on approach to solving problems. I have to do things physically in order to learn the ins and outs on a particular topic. I’ve noticed this in a lot things that I do. In order for me to learn how to cook a certain thing, I have to actually try to cook it first and then make note on what I could have done better next time. I think the quiz is very useful for those who do not know what exactly works best for them in a learning environment.

Career Post – Career Fair

Hello Everyone!

This past Friday, October 2nd, I decided to check out the Career Fair. It was raining heavily but I still decided to get up out of bed on my day off and go through my hour and fifteen minute commute to see what it was all about. As a Freshman it was very intimidating for me to see all of these people in business suits, parading around with their resumes in hand. I mean, for an instant, I was one of them but they all seemed so much more experienced than I was. Most importantly, the employers seemed a bit intimidating as well. I walked up to each table and introduced myself and everyone was shocked that I was a Freshman already looking into a career. This event opened a lot of networking opportunities for me and I also applied for a few retail positions. My overall review of this event: intimidating but worthwhile.

Student Life Post – Humans of Baruch

Hello everyone! To start off my lifeĀ here at Baruch, I had the honor and privilege of being featured on the Humans of Baruch page. I got to share my story of my transition from a very small school to a school that’s filled with thousands of unique faces and personalities. To be honest, it’s pretty early in my college career but I’m so happy that people are willing to listen to what I have to say, even though I’m only an 18 – year old kid from Far Rockaway. I’d like to say that I’m well immersed into student life already! I currently have a Marketing Committee position in Women In Business, as well (Head of LinkedIn) and I’m joining the Hindu Student Association. It’s only been a few weeks (almost a month here!) and I already feel like I am making a statement on campus and of course, building relationships with the people I’ve come across during my many ventures. All of my friends from high school tend to tease me because I’m already so involved and I’ve just begun this college journey. Just because you’re a freshman and the youngest of the college doesn’t mean you should feel intimidated to try new things. I feel like it should motivate you to want to learn and do more! I’m very excited to see what else I can accomplish within the next four years, since I’ve already done so much in a month! I’m ready to become more than the 18 – year old kid from Far Rockaway and Baruch will definitely give me the potential to do that.
