This past Sunday I went to the MET with my roommate Stephanie. We went to see art from A.D. I saw all kinds of works from Greece, Italy, Spain, Oceania, Africa and all over the world. My two favorite kinds of arts were the art from Medieval Times and from Oceania because they are much different from what I usually am exposed to.
The Medieval Art was more artifacts then paintings. It amazed me how knights would carry thirty pounds of armour on them and would still be able to fight in battle. I also loved the flags that were used in those times.
The art from Oceania also peaked my interest because instead of being made out of marble or being on a flat surface, the sculptures were made from wood and dyed. They also were birds and wildlife instead of people which I liked because it was different.
I really enjoyed my experience at the MET. I hope I can go back soon!
An Educational College Party?!
I was pleasantly surprised when I heard that I was invited to visit the Intrepid museum! I had never been on the ship before and I certainly was interested after hearing all the stories about it from my NY-hardened sister. Although I didn’t get to visit the whole museum and the gift store, I had a fun time learning about how humans were planning to visit Mars. There was a dark room which I particularly enjoyed; In it were videos of an astronaut’s life on the International Space Station and all its hardships and sweet views. There were also an assortment of documentaries on various subjects in the dark room as well, such as how astronaut suits were designed or plans for the upcoming visit of the Red Planet.

Me and the Enterprise.
The space museum proper was filled with different exhibits, such as histories of the many launches, a space pod exhibit, and how the Enterprise itself was named (hint: it was the Trekkies). The Enterprise itself was hung from the ceiling, as what I believe is a testament to one of humanity’s greatest achievements, space travel! There was also a space quiz that I didn’t enter and a band called the Colors who came to play for the crowd of college students. It was a fun time, and I went home weary, but glad that I did drop in for the party.
The Journey Into The Space…Museum

Me on the deck of the Intrepid
I had the opportunity to visit the Intrepid museum located on the Hudson in midtown Manhattan last Friday. The museum is an aircraft carrier turned into a museum and currently exhibits a lot of interesting things like the Soyuz pod that carried the astronauts into the space, for people to see and learn about the space history. The museum does a wonderful job of displaying the history of different launches – the blood and sweat of people on the missions, to the logistical difficulties to the extreme lengths the researchers went to send those launches successfully into the space.
The museum organized a quiz whereby the winner would enter to win a chance to go into the space in a real launch vehicle. There was also a special party featuring musicians who played the music as people took a tour of the Enterprise – a launch vehicle named after a spaceship in Star Trek. The visitors were also offered different snacks like chips, cookies, cheese balls and pretzels.
By the time I finished the tour of the museum, it was already dark outside. The ship was lit beautifully with all the different helicopters and jets tied to the ship and the view of the skyline from the Intrepid was nothing short of magnificent.
