I joined the Ticker, Baruch’s student newspaper, and wrote articles for the second and third issues. I wrote for the science and technology section about a recent study that was done on the effects of dancing on reversing age-related deteriorations of the brain, and for the arts section about a Broadway show that recently closed due to a scandal. I learned a lot from my research and think that I did a good job writing my articles. What I enjoyed about writing the science article is that it was out of my comfort zone and it really made me think. I am not so great in science subjects in general, and I was nervous to be taking on a article that wasn’t in my forte. However, with a little persistence and patience, I was able to understand the topic I was writing about and write an effective article. I wrote for my high school newspaper and really wanted to write for my college’s newspaper as well, so on convocation day I signed up for The Ticker. Last week I was reached out to to write an article and I was thrilled. I hope to continue to write for the newspaper and to possibly become an editor in the future. Attached is a picture of my article. Look out for my article in the next issue!
