My experience at SASA

On Thursday September 7th I attended the South Asian Student Association general information meeting. Honestly the meeting started out slow, but as it progressed and i got to meet more people which stimulated my interest in the club. I’ve come to recognize that the main purpose of the club has been to help south Asian, Baruch students find a place to call home in a very large and diverse school. For freshmen and sophomores its an opportunity to meet and introduce themselves to fellow peers of similar backgrounds. Additionally we meet upperclassmen who have walked in our shoes and can use their experience to guild underclassmen who are in similar situations as they were in years prior. Upperclassmen get to continue and develop relationships they’ve had since their early years in SASA.

When the meeting began, we played an icebreaker game that was kind of boring and repetitive, but helped us meet and know our fellow club members. Ultimately once the food came out everyone began to interact more and quickly become acquainted. Hopefully I’ll be able to return every week for at least free lunch on Thursdays.
