Club Carnival and MSA

On the Freshman Convocation Day, I went to the Club Carnival and discovered many clubs I was interested in joining. There was also a Club Fair at my high school when I was a incoming Freshman. However, Baruch’s Club Carnival showed me Baruch’s diversity and numerous opportunities I had available coming to a completely new environment. Some clubs I was able to sign up for included the Thespian Club, Model UN, USG, UCLA, FES, Unicef, Women in Islam, MSA/MBA, Blue Notes, CPP, Beta Alpha Psi, and Accounting Society. There was a raffle for which, in order to enter, we had to talk to and sign up for clubs. There was a free photo booth in the club suite so I got to take a picture with my friend Misbah and the president of the Women in Islam club. I had been in the Muslim Student Association in high school, therefore it was a must for me to go to the club at Baruch.

I went to the interest meeting for the MSA, MBA, and Women in Islam, which was much similar to the MSA I had in high school but larger. I got to meet many new people as we did icebreakers by introducing ourselves and playing “Never have I ever…” It was surprising to find out things people have never done. The leaders of the Baruch MSA were also very friendly and people I felt I could always ask for help, as they were mostly upperclassmen. From this experience, I realized how in college I will get to see some of the same things from high school, which makes me more comfortable in this new setting.
