My Experience at Alpha Kappa Psi General Interest Meeting

This past Thursday, September 7th, I decided to attend the AKPsi General Interest Meeting. Hearing about the group from a junior that I’ve known for years and went to the same high school as me, he informed me on the business fraternity. Through our conversation, my interests grew towards the fraternity, so I asked some friends I met in high school to attend with me. They also invited their friends and we all attended the meeting together. During the meeting, we learned that the fraternity is big on philanthropy. As a task to get us to work together and connect with one another, we made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches which would be given out to local homeless shelters. I was surprised at the amount of members I already knew that also came from Francis Lewis High School. There must’ve been 6 other members I recognized from high school. The event was full of opportunities to network with other rushers and members of the fraternity.

AKPsi is big on standing out, but not standing alone. To enforce that, they have an event next Friday where it is an invite only dinner. In that case, they want rushers to make an impact and show how you can be unique and beneficial to the fraternity while as a member and even later as an alumni. This showed me how they have many connections to their brothers who are already out there in the big four accounting firms and what not.
