On Thursday November 2, 2017 at 12:30 pm, I went to Baruch Voices as my choice of a career event for the third and final blog. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed listening to the monologues and how high-quality everyone’s work was. One monologue that particularly stood out to me was the one done by the Nigerian female student whose name I unfortunately do not remember, however, the content of her speech I do. She wrote about how she must constantly overcome societal stereotypes and the satisfaction she gains when she accomplishes something amazing. As a fellow African American, this monologue related to me on a deep and personal level and was quite inspiring. Furthermore, I was very excited to hear Patrick’s rap again and was disappointed when they said the music did not work because I felt it took away a bit from the performance but despite this setback, he still did a wonderful job and sounded great.
