Two weeks ago, I decided to go to Baruch voices, to support other students. Although I wasn’t able to stay for long, the 10 or so performances that I saw were great! Many of the poems and stories these students recited held deep meaning. Some were about the hardships they faced because of their ethnicity, and others were about struggling with stress and anxiety from their first semester at college. There was one that I enjoyed that was about KFC. A guy wrote a poem about how good KFC chicken was. Overall, my favorite monologue was by a girl who spoke about how she is stereotyped in society for her looks and race however, she spoke about how she does not fit that stereotype. I recommend that students should go to Baruch Voices because for me, it was an amazing experience.
