This past Thursday, I attended the Investment Management Group (IMG) informational session. I have heard about the organization from several upperclassmen and Baruch alums. As a result, I wanted to hear more about it and how the recruiting process works. This is a student-run portfolio of stocks with $300,000 assets under management. IMG prepares their members to build on their technical and behavioral skills to thrive in the financial services industry.
The informational session was a wonderful experience. I was able to speak to several Directors of IMG and hear about how much IMG has prepared them for their summer internships leading to full-time offers. I learned that analysts have to attend weekend workshops to help sharpen their technical skills and there are bi-weekly stock pitches. Overall, it is a great organization that allows for students to get a sense of what its like to work in the finance industry.
