For my second blog post, I went to attend an art exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. Throughout my life, I have not been really the artistic type so if I saw art in person it would not stand out to me. The same would go for the Museum of Modern Art. I went there to check out their exhibits and the most interesting piece of art was the picture above. From what I can perceive it as, it looks like its saying how a person can have different faces than what they show from the outside. Though it is not related to how I am doing during my first semester at Baruch, it was the only thing that actually appealed to me. As I said above as much as the picture was enjoyable to look, the event did not assist me any way. I did not study harder because of that exhibit nor did I look at art in a different way. The only thing that I would say that this trip to the museum helped me with was getting closer to strangers at Baruch. It is not likely that you will hang out with people who are not in your group, but I went to the museum with new people that my friend’s brought which helped developed new friendships. Friendships are important because it leads to things such as connections in the future and people will be more willing to help you out if you build good rapport with them.

Walking into a business frat at Baruch was as bit as surprising as I had thought it’d be. They welcomed us with chicken wings, legs, and thighs from the local popeyes and you could already smell it from down the hall. When business frat pops up into my mind, I think of tall people with suits and ties looking very stern and people without a sense of humor. What I found were lots of people who shared laughs and a huge diversity of people. Although during the day of the meeting I had to leave early because of my freshmen seminar class, I met some very nice people. The reason I am interested in joining a business frat is because of the connections. Having connections for free food, drinks, and other small things are nice, but when you are trying to look for internships or a lucky job that is vacant then a business frat can help a lot. My impression of the frat is that it has a nice environment and safe for anyone who is a little shy because people will talk to you because they want you to join. Compared to a social frat, this frat is a bit more serious and the connections made are on two different levels. My plan to get more involved with the frat would be to join more of their meetings and to join the frat the end if i can. During my short visit to the business frat, I learned that the only way to have an opportunity to do something, you need to make the first step and check things out yourself. If you’re too shy to find out what you do not like or what you do like, you will never get to know.
