Racquel and I decided to go to a Career Panel event, sponsored by ‘Unicef @Brauch” during club hours. During this panel, the guest speakers talked about the process of networking from non-profit organizations and UN officials. So we got some really good insider info on how networking actually works. Networking is the process by which you create connections with individuals or groups of people in order to have a bigger spear of influence and knowledge. Networking is an essential part of the college experience. The people you meet in college will be those out in the workforce with you. You have to open yourself up to talking to people you don’t know and have to have the self-confidence to try and fail or succeed. I was excited to be able to get tips on the best ways to interact with people in the professional field I want to enter.

Rude Awakening: SACC
So one of the many things we were told in our Orientation is that our math classes will probably make us cry. They blatantly tell us the struggles basically 60% of the whole school has gone through. I was one of those that swore that I would be ready, I had gone to the Summer Prep course so I should have an advantage. Oh was I so rudely awakened. The thing about math is that practice makes perfect and if you’re not putting in the hours, you most likely won’t get it. Being that I am also working while going to school, garnering enough energy to sit down and actually do math problems becomes an issue. So this is where it has lea me: SACC. Luckily the same teacher I had for my summer prep class was available and once again showed me the stupid mistakes I made and that I was really just over thinking. I had my second test of the semester and I just knew that I needed the extra step, if I had any chance of passing. Going to SACC allowed me to realize that its ok not to have everything together and sometimes you just need some extra help. I will definitely be making a few more stops here throughout my college career.

My Bucket List As A Club!
When I was first admitted into Baruch College, one of the first things I did was look into the clubs that were offered. Absolutle Adrenaline was one of the first to catch my eye. Going to the general interest meeting allowed me to confirm one thing: this is definitely a club for me. Not only do they sponsor some things on my bucket list but they promote healthy living and the development of great friendships. Even at the beginning of the meeting, I felt comfortable; the ice breakers certainly helped to release any feelings of an outsider. You don’t have to be the fittest or the most adventurous, all you need is the desire to have fun, make friends and stay healthy. I hope to be able to go to as many events as I can this while I am at Baruch.
