For my last blog post I decided to go to Wall Street Careers Panel with Jordan, Ben, Vincent. I really enjoyed this workshop and it was my favorite out of the three. I learned many different things that can help me throughout my life. One thing that I really enjoyed was that many people from different backgrounds were there.

Many of the guest explained where they got their education and how they got they got into their field. They gave many tips on how they got where they are and how we can do the same. At the end I think that the main lesson was that you have to work hard to be successful. They gave many interesting tips that I think I can use for the rest of my life. At first I didn’t have in interest in stocks but after going I started to get interested in it after seeing all these successful people.

Personally, I don’t think I would go here if it wasn’t for this class but I am glad I did. This workshop thought me many interesting things and I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in business or has some free time at Baruch.

 

For my second blog post I decided to visit a museum. Every day on my walk to school I always pass by the Museum of Sex but I never have the chance to go. This was the perfect opportunity for me to finally go. I didn’t know what to expect from it but I knew a couple people who went and they told me how awesome it was. One of my favorite exhibitions was the Zana Bayne Collaboration. They showed many different types of clothing that was very interesting. The museum overall assisted me as a first semester freshman because it taught me many things. I learned to be very observant and appreciate art more. I am also currently taking Art History so it was the perfect time to go to a museum. This activity also helped me as a first semester freshman at Baruch because is thought me how to navigate a little better in the city. Since I am from long Island, I am not really used to the way the streets are. Overall I think it was a great experience to go to this museum because it helped me a lot with my first semester at Baruch.

 

The event we had for the clubs was a great way of getting freshman involved with the school. The people that were representing the clubs were full of energy and really got me interested in many clubs. I think that Baruch did a great job at this event for making the school better for freshman. There were tables with a bunch of different clubs. There were many different religious clubs and cultural clubs. There was a club for everyone. No matter what interests you had, you can find a club for it.

Out of all the many clubs, I chose to visit undergraduate student government because I was very interested in it. I always wanted to be part of student government in high school but I never got the chance. This would be a perfect choice for me because I would really want to represent the school. I plan on getting involved because I believe that in can help me later in life throughout my career. Being part of student government involves a lot of public speaking and that is a very good thing to have as you get older. I plan on being active in the club and even run for a position later. I think being part of student government will be a very good choice because it will change my experience in college. I will learn many new things and make many new friends by joining.

Overall I think that going to this event can be very helpful and make you new connections in life. By getting involved in the clubs and events you can make new friends. Even though Baruch is a commuter school there are still many events that the school has. By joining a club you get the full experience of going to college even if you commute.
