The MET

On Thursday, November 16th friends and I went over and walked around the Metropolitan Museum. The minute you get there you are enchanted by the outstanding atmosphere and are immediately fascinated by all your surroundings. Instantaneously the first section I wanted to look around was the exhibit of the ancient Greek and Roman. I have always been interested in Greek mythology, and seeing statues and ancient artifacts from thousands of years ago really enticed me. Fun fact that I learned was that most of these statues were sculpted not by any modeling individual but rather based solely on the sculptors image of what he pictured to be the human being. This fact was super interesting considering most of these statues are so well designed, detailed, and undeniably realistic that you would think they were based on a real human.  Another exhibit that i found truly fascinating was ancient Egypt. The minute we stepped into the exhibit there was a smaller recreation of the ancient pyramids. There you were able to step inside and see the hieroglyphics and pictures that they actually drew on them, which I thought was very cool. Also, there were real life sized tombs [for mummies] for where the ancient Egyptians placed the deceased. I learned that the ancient Egyptians believed in reincarnation, where they believed they would come back after they died and that is why they were huge advocates for preserving the bodies of the dead, reason why they mummified them. Every exhibit in the metropolitan museum of Art is so beautifully and phenomenally fabricated and designed that I highly recommend it to anyone who has a chance to stop by. My visit made me truly appreciate all the outstanding and captivating pieces of art that come from all different types of nations, cultures, and people.

Club Fair

On September 28th, Baruch had a club fair in the gym, where Sofa, Ana, and I went in and found really interesting organizations that we all took interests in! There were variety of clubs that ranged from academic clubs, such as the finance club, sporty clubs such as the archery club, and clubs just based on nationality and culture such as the Caribbean club, which I was asked to join although I am not Caribbean. Even the step team club, came up to us to ask if we wanted to join because they said “we look like we can dance.” It was a very funny moment, where we all looked at each other and laughed because in reality we cannot dance. There were tons of clubs that caught my eye, that I actually decided to sign up for the archery club, the adrenaline club which focuses on exercising and fitness, and the wall street club. The wall street club was the club that I really took an interest in because they explained how, what makes them so different compared to all other clubs is that they have entrepreneurs and other business associates as guest speakers who come in every Friday such as J.P.Morgan. This seemed extremely interesting to me because I can learn a lot from what these famous business associates go through in their jobs, considering I want to pursue a field same as theirs and can maybe get a sense of what I am suppose to be doing now to help pursue that goal and to see what awaits for me for when I do achieve it. Going to club fair was an extremely fun time not only because of hanging out with friends but because I really think I finally put myself out there and saw what Baruch has to offer me. Club fair

Career Fair with gals

Today I went to Baruch when I had no classes just to attend the famous career fair. When I first got there I was so intimidated because there was a huge line from the lobby all the way down the stairs to the basement and everyone on that line looked so business professional I felt so left out. Although, it took some time to finally get into the fair, you can see all these big corporations and businesses throughout the gym, which was so overwhelming because i didn’t know where to start, or what to look at. Yet from what i did see there was a TD Bank and Municipal Credit Union.  Those two banks stood out so much to me because if I were to look for an internship I would want to do so at a bank firm, since my major is finance, I think it would be an amazing opportunity to gain some experience from well known banks.
