Metropolitan Museum of Art

This past week, a few of my friends and I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I have never visited this museum before and my experience exploring all the different exhibits was truly fascinating. The architecture of the building alone was so detailed and it was even more in the inside. There were so many different exhibits to look at, we didn’t know what to go to first. First, we visited the ancient Greece and Rome periods. This is where we saw all of the large Greek statues of men and women and the chariots used during that time period. Then, we went to see the exhibits showing the medieval era. This is where we saw all of the knight and armor suits worn in different countries such as Japan, India, and America. Even the horses they rode on had armor on them. I couldn’t believe how the knights could fight in such heavy armor. The weapons they used were also so fascinating because of the intricate designs on the pistols and other weapons. Next, we visited the Egyptian exhibit. There was a giant open room with a sphinx and an Egyptian tomb in which you could actually walk inside. There was a lot of Egyptian art and hieroglyphics around the tombs as well. Lastly, we went to the American colonial era exhibit. This is where all of the paintings of George Washington was held. I learned in school about the famous painting of George Washington standing on a boat on the Delaware river, but I never knew how large the real painting actually is. The painting was the size of the entire wall of the room with a golden frame holding it. This was so cool and interesting to see all of the small details painted. I have never seen a bigger painting in my life. I never realized how large this museum really is. It was so complicated to figure out how to exit the museum. I had learned so much from exploring through this museum and had a lot of fun sharing all of our thoughts on the things we observed with my friends. I would love to come to the Metropolitan Museum of Art once again to see everything else it has to offer.
