Focus-2 Assessment

I took the Focus-2 Exam for my Career Blog. I initially went to a career workshop for resume writing, however, that did not work out for me. In the Focus-2 Exam there were 5 assignments that you took in order to get help with which career you should choose.

I enjoyed completing the personality, I felt that it asked me questions that I was able to easily answer about myself. I chose Independence, helping others, and influence for the first part. My results were that You focus your attention on practical issues and look at the realities of a situation.,You make decisions using logic as opposed to your feelings. I feel that this test did a great job of defining my personality because a lot of these are similar to my personality. Then later they gave me a list, Examples of such occupations can be found in fields such as engineering, applied technologies, business administration, law enforcement, production andconstruction, professions I should choose. It actually told me what I wanted to do.

The work interest test I had a hard time completing because I think I was not even sure about the answers. The good thing is that I actually began thinking about which kind of environment I would like to work in. There were questions like, designing theatre stage sets, lighting and special effects for plays or TV shows? And this relates back to my theatre class. However, I wouldn’t be interested in a field of that sort. After this test I actually started to wonder, which type of working environment I prefer.

Overall, the Focus-2 Exam for me personally helped out. It is helping me choose a career for the future.  It also gave the number of annual income as well as the skill-set required. It got actually thinking about my career and how so many majors can go in different ways.

Joining Hindu Student Association

For my second blog post, I went to the Club Fair on Thursday, October 5th. I was getting my Henna done with the Hindu Student Association. I was very interested because my religion Sikhism gets a lot of beliefs from Hinduism. I still pray at the Mandir(Hindu Temple). I asked them what this club was about. The wanted to demonstrate their culture to everyone. They talked about another Holiday called Diwali which is the Festival of Lights. I was familiar with this because in my religion we also celebrate Diwali but we have another reason behind it. They were kind to me and my friends, even though we were not Hindu. They provided us with mango juice and donuts

I would definitely join this club because not only do they focus on Hinduism they also go over current events. I would like to be in a club where they speak about current events because I would love to get others opinions and discuss them. There also meditation and yoga classes. This is a great benefit because meditation and yoga tend to relax your body. They also go over all the Hindu festivals and it is always good to be informed about other cultures and not only be limited to yours.

This club influenced me to become more active in my community. I am motivated to be able to express my religious views in a group of people that share the same. I am Sikh hence,  I will be looking forward to joining the Sikh Student Association. I was a part of it in high school and want to continue to do the same. Religion is an essential aspect of my life. I want to give other the information to be better Sikhs and learn from other people as well. Overall, I always love club hours because there is always free food and S.W.A.G., but also you get to learn the purpose of many different clubs and what they advocate for

Blog Number One: NY Hall of Science

For my blog post I decided to visit the NY Hall of science. I went during the free hours which were from 10-11AM. I also brought my sister with me. I am a person who loves science, so visiting this museum gave me pleasure. There were so many amazing aspects to it..

My favorite part was when I created soap bubbles. It was really fun to create the bubbles. There was also a soap film painting. There was white light that was reflected from the back and front of the soap film which caused different colors. It was beautiful to look at because it looked like water.

I also learned something new. I learned the humans are not adept to walk on two legs but are more adept to walk with four. However, after they developed over time humans began to walk on two legs so they would be able to carry tools and equipment with their hands. I didn’t knowthat hence, learning about this was very fascinating to me.

Another thing I learned was that many people lack the enzyme necessary to digest lactose, it’s a sugar in milk. This depends on the genes that are inherited from over past ancestors. Also, people who are able to digest milk as adults inherited from their ancestors who raised dairy animals. However,  people who cannot inherited genes from their ancestors who did not raise dairy animals.

The picture that I attached was when I was at the  colored shadows section. The motive was to demonstrate that shadows are not only black or white but they can also be colored.

I would recommend the NY hall of science to my friends and peers because a lot of people assume that science is a boring topic but after visiting this museum it allows your perspective to change.
