Freshman Seminar Fall 17 LC09

Baruch Loft Party

Baruch Loft Party. Thursday night. Right before a Friday. Hosted by USG. Lit or nah?

When my friends and I first heard about the loft party, we all assumed how it was going to be just another forced, cheesy ice breaker; essentially a drag. However, as you can see from this picture , we had a lot of fun. I only went to take a picture for a FRO blog because that was the one of the incentives that made me go. The other was food.

Me, Tiffany, Maria, and Yina didn’t even bother to go out to eat just so we can keep our wallet full (debatable) by eating the food provided by the party. We assumed it was just going to be pizza, but no. BURGERS AND FRIES.

My stomach’s impatience grew the longer we waited on the line. I could feel my stomach twist and turn more and more after every additional second. It could sense the burgers that sat on the tables beyond the two guards.

Once we were allowed to go inside, we rushed and followed the scented trail that lead to the tables. We quickly grabbed a burger, some fries, and a drink, and went into the room. As soon as we stepped in, we saw giant chest pieces and Jenga Tower wood blocks, along with other games that I don’t know the name of. They don’t matter tho, I didn’t go to play games, I went to EAT and TURN UP.

The burgers and fries tasted amazing, but I was immediately hungry again after I started dancing for three hours straight. Of course, I had to take a bathroom break because someone bumped into me and ruined my white sweater with my own cup of Hawaiian fruit punch. Adding to the misfortune, I didn’t have a shirt or tank top underneath, so I couldn’t change. Turning it inside out didn’t work. I also denied my friend Deana’s offer of her dad’s long sleeve. I had to improvise by wearing it backwards and wearing my book bag to hide the stains on the back.

I should have just wore my stained sweater without the book bag, because for the next remaining hours, I had to dance with my book bag on. It was still worth it though because it was fun to dance with my friends and other new freshmen.

We jammed to whatever song the DJ put on, swaying our hips, arms, our entire bodies as we moved closer to the center. The dance floor had multiple circles of people dancing. In the center of my circle, a girl named Destiny threw out some amazing moves. She could do all types of dancing from robotic to break dancing. She wasn’t the only one that was amazing. I remember seeing and laughing at a few dancers that went around dancing with giant chest pieces in their hands.

By the end of the party, I’ve made some new friends, and got closer to the ones that I made from my FRO class. I had an amazing time, evident by how I looked like I took a shower. My curled and puffy hair became straight. It was worth it.
