I went to the first GIM for the Baruch Accounting Society last week. This was my third time going to one of these so I expected the natural order of these things. That is the explanation, the icebreaker games and the food.
A lot of people attended, but since we were in a big room it wasn’t overcrowded or anything. We got to mingle and get to know other people there through the icebreaker game we played. The game itself was about guessing what a zoomed up picture was. Sadly my team didn’t win, but since two teams had to play a tiebreaker maybe it wasn’t that big a deal.
The food served was pretty nice with stacks of various pizza boxes and an assortment of cookies and even had water bottles on the side. I only had one slice though since I ate beforehand.
This club seemed to be productive since it had events and meetings every Tuesdays and Thursdays. All the officers seemed very nice though it may take a while for me to remember all of their names. The club gave a feel that it was very professional. I think it’s going to be hard planning how to manage days when I should go because I have other clubs I want to join as well.
There are events I’d like to join for sure like workshops and volunteering events. The bake sales would also be fun to participate in since I like to bake when I have free time. Also I signed up to be part of the planning committee so that will be a good way to get integrated into the club.
It feels like it’d be an important experience to join this club especially since I’d be majoring in accounting. Hopefully I’ll have a fun time here.
