  1. that system that I use makes no excuse at all i just get it done no matter how difficult it is. i love a challenged and will never back down.  As my semester their events that happened to me that i could have easily blamed on the next person, but no I took the initiative t take responsibility of my actions and tried my nest to battle through adversity.
  2. the  five self-management tools in this weren’t anything new to me  I already know that i should do it, but sometimes i just do not want to apply. however, some of the  five self-management tools in this chapter are not that effective such as the weekly schedule because my schedule changes a lot through ou the day that is why i rather set reminders on my phone. not to  mention that i am not always near my weekly schedule

My Life Plan

1.  My Dream: I’m searching.
      My Life Role: Student

My Long-Term Goals in This Role: It is to graduate college by 2020 at most.
My Short-Term Goals in This Role: It is to decide on a major in the next weeks or                    months. Another short-term goal is to find an effective way to manage my time.

2.  By designing my life plan, I realize that there is no time to fool around; Unless you have
a specific time set on your calendar. If I don’t work on managing my time, I will start               failing classes, and I will push back my expected graduation date.

1. My self-management skills have really proven to be inefficient. It was very difficult to manage 5 classes, freshman seminar, and mandatory tutoring, and working Friday-Sunday. I did not have any time for recreational activity. I did not really have a system that I followed which resulted in poor quality of homework, low test grades, etc. For most of the semester, I relied on my classmates to help me keep up with homework and studying. I did my homework the night before in a matter of an hour or less which means that I did not give it my best effort. As for tests, toward the beginning of the semester, I only did my homework but did not study. I thought that doing my homework would be enough, unfortunately, it was not. The first semester served as an eye opener to what I should do to prepare and stay organized for next semester.

2. For me personally, none of the five self-management tools in this chapter really work. I’ve tried something similar to the Project Folder, but it makes me more organized with all the work I have to do, but I don’t keep up with it. The Monthly Calendar would probably work best for me since I have done weekly schedules. I try to follow them to the best of my ability by setting realistic dates. My weekly schedule is usually written so I may want to try to use my phone this time and perhaps it can be more effective. What I think makes my written weekly schedule ineffective is that it is not always in front of me. I always stuff it in my bag and never see it until later on in a week. By using my phone, I can set a reminder at each time I need to work on a different task. I will use an app or just the calendar on my phone.

  1. The system I use is living in the moment. I  don’t plan ahead for the future.
  2. The way I need to improve the system is by planning for the future. I need to think ahead of future problems. First I need to start saving my money because an emergency might happen and I’ll be broke because I spent all my money on clothes. Second I need to make schedule when Im going t do my work instead of waiting till the last minute.

My self management this semester was really poor. I went to school Monday’s- Thursday’s and on Fridays and Saturdays I worked. My only free day was Sunday. I would rush things by Sunday and the lack of sleep really did not help. This semester I want to improve my self management by getting everything done that same day. Not put anything to last minute.

Life Plan
My Dream: Is to be successful at whatever I decide that I want to be. I want to have a wonderful Career . Also I want a family one day with a successful husband and cool kids.
My Life Role: Daughter, A care taker and a student
My Long-Term Goals in this Role: My goals is tot graduate with a high GPA and get
My Short-Term Goals in this Role:  My goals is trying to pass first semester and reflect on the things I did wrong so I can fix it for the next semester.
My short term goals are pretty simple:
Is to get through this semester and to reflect on my mistakes.
2. One thing I’ve learned is that i don’t really give that much effort on my work. I save things for the last minute with isn’t really productive.

Journal #17:
1- An outer obstacle that stands between me and my success in college is my job, not studying enough and not interacting with my professors as much as I should and also, lack of sleep.
2 & 3- Someone besides me who can help me overcome this obstacle is my manager allowing me to shorten my hours, my counselor checking up on me one-on-one.
4- An inner obstacle that stands between me and my success in college is procrastination.
5- Someone besides me who can help me overcome this inner obstacle is nobody because I’m the one who has to get the work done.
6- Nobody can help me in getting my work done because regardless of what anybody tells me it’s up to me if I’m willing and capable of setting anything else besides school work aside to make the school work my priority with procrastinating.
7- The most challenging course I’m taking this semester is Math 1030.
8- The course is challenging for me because I get easily confused with numbers, I don’t study enough knowing that I have difficulty and even when I do try to study or learn something In tutoring the tutor I received wasn’t helpful. I often had to rely on classmates for help but they also have things to worry about for themselves.
9- Someone besides me who can help me overcome this obstacle is classmates, my sister who is very good at math, the SACC department.
10- All these people can help me by giving assistance and clarifying anything I don’t understand.

2- Two choices that I will have to make to be more successful In college is not work so much, especially not during school nights. Another choice is create more connections and study groups so I’d be able to learn from others and add on to my own knowledge.

Journal #14:
1- My self management system has been horrible this semester. I know it is no excuse, but when starting to college I had a job at the same time so sometimes I prioritized my job. When I started to realize that I was doing this, I decided to cut down my working hours. When I did decide to cut down my working hours, it was too late because most of the material for all my classes had already been covered and I missed out on a lot. When trying to remember what homework I needed to do for the following day, I had to ask a peer of mine or else I would forget. In order to prepare for a test, sometimes I felt like I would just be able to do it without studying but this didn’t work out so fine. I began to study days prior to exams as soon as the semester was almost over. I currently use this “last minute” / remembering everything on my own system, because sometimes I feel like I work best under pressure but then again it doesn’t work out for me because I end up feeling stressed out since everything is piled up on me. My system is not effective at all and I’m still working on it for next semester. I’ve learned that this is obviously not effective if I’m trying to get through college.
2- I honestly wouldn’t use the next action list because it requires me to write more information than I need. I feel like I would be able to work better if I have a concise list, in where I can just get to the point. I like to keep it short and simple and then be able to get to it. A tracking form seems more organized because I would be able to jot down what I have to do and then go back and see if I checked it off & actually got it done within the time I was planning to do so. A project folder would come in handy because I’m still working on my organization skills. All throughout the semester I lost papers and was all over the place in having a organized project folder everything would become more simple. I could start using my phone for self management by setting daily alarms, especially when it comes to waking up in the morning for a class. I would also be able to time myself while doing homework, and give myself enough time for every course not just one. The best hand written system would be to obtain a dated planner where I would be able to refer back to everyday.
