7. The most challenging course I’m taking this semester is Anthropology 1001.
8. This course is challenging for me because it requires critical thinking and a lot of reading that acknowledge complex concepts.
9. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this challenge is peers that are doing well in the course and understand the material as well as the professor.
10. How this person could help me is by sharing tips for simplifying complex concepts and effective study skills.

2) Write about two choices you could make to create a stronger support system for yourself in college:
The lack of confidence I tend to have in college has really had a negative impact on my performance. Courses are sometimes complex and it has made me worried about my grade and understanding of the material being presented. In order to create a stronger support system for me, I have decided to interact with my peers more to get positive people as motivators. I am also visiting my professors during their office hours for additional help.

1. An outer obstacle that stands between me and my academic success in college is having a lot of work to do at the same time.

2. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this outer obstacle is my cousin.

3. How this person could help me is by helping me with my work.
4. An inner obstacle that stands between me and my academic success in college is being lazy and also procrastination.
5. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this inner obstacle are my parents.
6. They can help me by making me do my work so that I actually complete it when I have to without being distracted or making excuses as to why I waited last minute to start.
7. The most challenging course I’m taking this semester is history.
8. This course is challenging for me because there is a lot of reading assigned and to keep up with.
9. Someone besides me who can help me overcome this obstacle is a classmate.
10. This person can help me overcome this obstacle by comparing my notes to their to see if I caught all the important notes.
Two decisions I can make to overcome these obstacles is to keep up with the readings and to stop procrastinating. If I keep up with the history readings I would understand more what the professor is talking about in class and it will deepen and help me remember the notes more. Then I will be able to pass the final exam because I would retain more information and be more prepared for the final than I was for the midterm. To stop procrastinating, I will set a timer for half an hour, and do work for that half an hour and then take a 5-10 min break, and continue for another half an hour. I think this will help me focus more and forget about using my phone and other things around me. Hopefully I won’t be as distracted using this strategy.

9. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this challenge is my professor.
10. How this person could help me is by telling me what I need to focus on, what to study for.
2) Write about two choices you could make to create a stronger support system for yourself in college:
The lack of focus I tend to have in college is degrading who I am and my work ethic. I think it is causing me to have bad grades in most of my classes. It’s hard for me to sit still and focus on a reading, when I can be doing other stuff. Too many distractions are at home, which causes me not to focus. Talking to my professors has helped me ascertain what I need to study for on my next exams. I talked to my anthropology professor which helped me out a lot, she gave me a lot of helpful advice which will lead me into the right direction.

2. Right about two or more choices you could make to create a strong support system for yourself in college

One choice I can make for myself is to organize myself even better. I know I’m not the most organized person in the world but if I organize myself better I can achieve many things. I can make for myself is to be in study groups I have learned that being said it does actually help me retain more information.

COLLEGE STRUGLE

  1. An outer obstacle that stands between me and my success in college is not giving my self time to study. I understand the material in class but I do not go over it. When a professor explains something I get it in the moment but I don’t go back to my notes to read and actually understand the notes I wrote down.
  2. Someone who besides me who could help overcome this outer obstacle are my classmates Annie, Kristian, Aissata, and Destiny. I take classes with them and we always talk about the work when we have time. In a way my coaches because they give me the support that I need to become successful.
  3. How these people could help me is by enforcing that study group that we planned at the beginning of the semester. They do encourage me and we encourage each other.
  4. An inner obstacle that stands between me and my success in college is procrastination. I tell myself that I am going to do my work at a certain time and then I don’t do it. My head tries to spin around the problem and how I am  going to do it but I never start it. I feel that my confidence also is another factor to my struggle in college. I fell confident about certain classes, which is good, but that confidence keeps me away from doing extra work.
  5. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this inner obstacle are my professor. When teachers make something worth a lot of points makes me worth harder. When we have due dates right after an assignment is given it makes me work harder to make the assignment on time. With a lot of pressure and points at risk it lets me know that I have something to do.
  6. How  the professors could help me is by assigning work and make it worth a lot of points. Explaining it as well and giving examples
  7. The most challenging course I am taking in college is history. I never liked history, was not my favorite subject. I always have trouble remembering dates and events and their time line. In college I am understanding is not about what I like but what I have to learn.
  8.  This course is challenging to me because I feel that there are various events within a certain time. It is hard for me to keep up with these events. The professor does a good job explaining it it and I like it but I just need to concentrate more.
  9. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this challenge is my sibling. She took this course before and understand history more than me. Sometimes I do not want to bother her since she is super busy.
  10. How this person could help me is by sitting down with me for at least 1/2 and hour and help explain events. Events in American history and what is going on outside in America during the same time

Two choices I could make for myslef to become a stronger student and overcome my obstacles are getting organized and limit video game time. I am not the most organized person but I know where I place my work and do it. But I need to become more organized to be more efficient. I should separate my work from all my classes and buy folders. Creating a calendar will help me achieve this. I recently bought Call Of Duty Black Ops 3, a shooting game. I also bought the one year gold membership to play online. I have been playing it since i bought it and have become addicted. I had not played video games in over a year and now I’m back to it. I have to limit my playing time from 3-5 hours to 1-2 hours. I will have enough time to do my work and focus on it, not that its just done but is my best work.

  1. An outer obstacle that stands between me and my success in college is trying to understand a professor and his assignments. Although I do ask him questions, look up videos and information online or even ask my friends, there’s still a misconnection and not enough clarity of what he expects.
  2. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this outer obstacles is my own professor still try to get more time to speak to him during his office hours.
  3. How this person could help me is by better understanding what he expects of certain assignments and I would try to better grasp on the information I missed.
  4. An inner obstacle that stands between me and my success in college is really nothing because if I’m dedicated enough to get the grades I want to get, I wouldn’t let anything get in my way. Although I do get distracted at times, I would find a better place to focus and get my things done.
  5. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this inner obstacle is myself
  6. How this person could help me is by setting goals, turning off my phone and finding a focus place to do my assignments
  7. The most challenging course I’m taking in college this semester is my history class, I was never really good with this subject in high school although I still got a high grade the information didn’t stick with me after exams. I just find it really boring but it’s a challenge that I should live up to.
  8. This course is challenging for me because I find it boring and not as interesting unlike some other subjects. Not being able to connect with it as much and knowing that I’m going to use it later on for my future career.
  9. Someone besides me who could help me overcome this challenge is my history professor or different tutors that I can go for extra help. Even YouTube videos are really helpful.
  10. How this person could help me by is to better understand the information and find a way to remember it for exams and finals.

Two choices that could make a stronger support system for myself in college is to continue to have the motivation and desire to be successful within my courses, because without that desire I think I wouldn’t be able to put as much effort into my work. I’m really lucky to have the connection with school, enjoy and take full advantage of my education that some kids don’t really appreciate it. A second support system for myself is to continue studying and keeping up to date with my assignments. Having to be a week in advance with my work gives me more time to do personal things. Weekends are really helpful to organize and review certain information from class. I believe the support system starts with oneself you can’t rely on someone else to be successful, motivation comes from yourself to be the best of the best.

#2  In order to develop  a stronger support system for myself  I can form a study group and most importantly seek the help of the instructor. Being in a study group  is just less stressful and allows me to connect with my peers. Seeking the help of the  Professor is equally important, well because the professor knows best! By simply going to their office hours and asking for their help, my chances of succeeding in their  becomes greater.

Choices for a Stronger Support System:
By creating a study group and a study schedule I can avoid procrastination. I know up coming events may conflict with my study schedule but I can overcome this by adding the loss of time to another day. A study group is a healthy and proven way to retain information without being stressed or alone. I am not the only one who is struggling and with the help of my peers we could all get through the semester successfully.
