This past week I attended the first live basketball game of my life. No, it wasn’t the Knicks or the Nets, it was the so called “Baruch Bearcats”. If we look at current records of the animal itself, its not doing too well in the real world. When the female basketball team got on the court they seemed really enthusiastic about winning the game. We are on home turf, had a presentation from many different clubs cheering before the game even started but none of it worked out at the end. The girls were down throughout every single quarter of the game. The closest they got to the Brooklyn Bulldogs was 7 points behind, but they ultimately lost 45-67 to a well structured team. The halftime show was actually entertaining with some of today’s music hits where people got on the court and had a dance off. I also stayed and waited 45 mins for the Men’s basketball team to play. I could say their performance was a lot better than those of the women’s team, but they also managed to lose against Brooklyn by 15 points with the game ending at 58-73. The sport itself was enjoyable, but what was annoying is the “free shots” every time a player falls on the court. Hopefully both teams improve and make Baruch students proud of being a bearcat. Til next time!
