Snapchat-2866315595580491101the Baruch event tonight was good. Baruch seems to be creative with events. This event was a paint glow in the dark party. I assume they had great food because i arrive and everything was gone. I think baruch needs to pick a better dj to go with there events. If the music isnt good the audience wont react in the proper way. I think baruch needs to also be diverse with the music. It was nice that they had beverages for the legal students that attend their school. It shows they acknowledge the ages at their school. I didnt stay for long because i have hw to do. I even have spring break hw. I feel like im in high school. You get hw every break. I do appreciate the effort because alot of people showed up. That shows you that the marketing team did its job.if young metro dont trust you….

Baruch Voices

I attended the Baruch Voice performance on Thursday. My initial thoughts on my way to the event was that it was going to be such a waste of time. However, from the first performance to the last it was creative and unique. I respect every participant just based on the fact that they had the courage to get up and perform. I learn interesting characteristics from all the performers and I appreciate them allowing us to learn something about them. The performance about Pokémon was hilarious I was not expecting that at all. I learned about some strong women and women who are still growing and finding themselves. Of course I have to be loyal and say the best performance was from my class. Ironically he discussed something we can all agree with. I wish I would have been able to hear people who participated last semester, that would have been interesting.

The irrelevant

I took this pick in Baruch’s mini museum. I went with two of my classmates twice before we actually got the chance to enter the gallery. The most interesting thing about the gallery was the skeletons they had in display. I wanted to understand their importance. Why did they choose these people to hang in their archives? How did they do that contributes to the development of the society that I live in? When I could not answer to these questions I did not pay attention. If I can’t find the purpose of things i stop paying attention. This a problem that I believe most students have in college. The struggle to get a great grade in an uninteresting class is very real. I believe the only way to successfully have a happy life you have to focus on things you actually enjoy doing. Why live a long and miserable life full of regrets when you can live a life with no regrets and great memories. 20160309_120928

Blog Post #3 Student Life

image image

On Thursday afternoon here at Baruch in the multipurpose room the school hosted “Baruch Voices.” It was a great experience for me to get to know my fellow students better. I got to take a peek into the lives of many Baruch students. I particularly liked Vanessa’s presentation. It was a great experience to bond with my classmates on a more personal level. These events that Baruch hosts are really useful sometimes for students willing to be submerged in student life. Freshman seminar has offered me a lot of opportunities to grow as a freshman and to learn all of the essential things needed to succeed here at Baruch. I’m happy that Freshman Seminar is coming to an end but I’m also upset that I won’t be in such a relaxed environment with my fellow freshmen ever again at Baruch. Ending the course with the memory of Baruch Voices fresh in my mind is a great way to put an end to something very great. Once again Vanessa’s presentation was great!!

Blog Post #3 Career

On Thursday April 14th I attended Baruch Voices. The room seemed chill with ambient music in the background and pleasantly dimmed lights. We soon sat waiting for the participants to be introduced. For our class FRO DTC Vanessa and Ilias represented us. Ilias went first and gave the same excellent performance he gave in class. I liked his monologue a lot because I could relate to it. Vinny was another participant from a different class and he wrote a poem about his views on society, it was much different than most monologues I’ve heard and I really liked it. My least favorite presentation was the guy who talked about pokemon for what seemed like forever. His piece was on how pokemon has helped him succeed which was really monotonous. In the end I enjoyed the whole event because now I feel more connected to my fellow freshmen and know them a little better than I did before.

cooper hewitt

As you can tell by my face drenched with enthusiasm this is my 3rd blog post. This one however is different because I took the pic not knowing that this museum trip could be used for a blog post. I met up with a friend at the cooper hewitt museum on 91st a couple of weeks ago and somehow we both got in for free thanks to the fact that we look under 18. It was a nice experience since were both into design. I got to look at some beautiful boundary pushing art that, unfortunately i wasnt able to put in this selfie. The museum itself was pretty futuristic as we got to save our favorite designs on a pen that we walked around with so that we could look at our choices online. I would definitely recommend it to my peers as I enjoyed that whole experience, even awkwardly waiting in the freezing cold.

“Will you still love me tomorrow?”

I had arrived late at the screening but when I got there, the room was dimmed and only illuminated by the 90″ screen. I watched “Will you still love me tomorrow?” The movie was about a married Taiwanese man who begins to question his life choices regarding his sexuality upon learning about his wife’s desire to have another child. At the end the Weichen (married man) attempted to give up his desire for men in order to save his marriage. His wife ironically leaves him so he can learn to love again 🙁 It was truly sad 🙁 After the film, the event organizer handed me some pamphlets about future events I can attend for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. I really enjoyed the film, I’ll consider attending future events 🙂 On the hand I really enjoyed the warm and pleasant vibe the room had to offer. Snacks and refreshments were served. The attached pic is a scene from the film.
