Bicycles have been around since the 19th century, but Citi Bike is revolutionizing the biking experience by allowing anyone 16 or older to take a bike from any station and return it at any other Citi Bike station. Roughly 6,000 bicycles are available for use at more than 300 stations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. An annual membership costs $95 and riders are allowed to use the bikes for a limited 45 minutes. With crowded subway systems, and expensive taxi fares, Citi Bike is a healthy, and cost effective method to navigate the city. I’m sure you’ve all see the station that is right outside of Baruch on Lexington Ave. The fact that it remains empty for most of they day proves that Citi Bike is being used on a regular basis. This innovative use for old technology is not only extremely profitable, it is beneficial to commuters as well.
