The Barclays Center is a multipurpose indoor arena, that was built in 2012. It has been used for various sporting events, concerts, and other forms of entertainment. It is the home to the Brooklyn Nets basketball team and to the New York Islanders hockey team as well. Since the center has been built, downtown Brooklyn and Atlantic Avenue has never been the same.  The area is always busy, in fact way more busy than it has ever been before. The events that take place at the center attract many people from various parts of the city and all over the globe. It is full of diversity and life. People are always wandering, filling the sidewalks and streets.

The area of Atlantic Avenue has been an essential part of Brooklyn, since the 1900’s. Prior to the establishment of the Barclays, that area mainly consisted of a shopping mall, Williams burgh saving bank tower nearby, and a subway station that offers connections to various parts of Brooklyn and Queens.
